The rationale this ‘improbable’ however little-known skincare model is impressing Aussie magnificence followers

A new and little known Australian skincare brand is racking up five star reviews from customers thanks to its approach to nourishing formulas. 

Leitin Skincare only launched in March this year, but the brand is already attracting a following of beauty fans thanks to its lipid-based skincare products.

The brand’s founder says the brand has ‘rejected water-based formulations, instead opting for natural lipids and oils’ to produce products that are gentle and non-greasy, but that ultimately aim to offer deep hydration to nourish skin. 

One of Leitin Skincare’s signature products is the Water Bomb Face Cream $69, a hydrating moisturiser that aims to nourish the skin barrier.

The formulation includes 24 per cent of active ingredients including Tasmanian Kelp, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acids which work together to provide a deep level of hydration. 

Customers have branded the moisturiser ‘fantastic’ and praised how it offers ‘great hydration’. 

One beauty fan who gave the product a five star review said: I’ve tried many face creams, but this one is by far the best. Highly recommend!’

Another said: ‘Wonderful cream! It leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth.’

The Tasmanian Kelp is rich in antioxidants, Niacinamide can help improve skin texture and tone, whilst Hyaluronic Acid is known for helping skin to retain moisture. The Water Bomb moisturiser contains four distinct Hyaluronic Acids with different molecular weights for comprehensive hydration, as well as peptides which aim to target fine lines. 

Leitin’s other hero products include a Peptide Eye Concentrate $72 which contains Pro Vitamin B5, Hyaluronic Acids and five multifunctional peptides, as well as the Halo Vitamin C Serum $47, which contains Kakadu Plum extract to help brighten skin for a radiant complexion. 

Leitin Skincare is the brainchild of landscaper by trade Leighton who said he decided to launch his own range after using ‘high quality skincare’ but finding it ‘wasn’t effective’.

‘A lot of people thought we were crazy at the time, but we built the lab before we had even sold a product,’ Leitin founder Leighton told Daily Mail Australia

He told Daily Mail Australia: ‘You wouldn’t think that a passion for landscaping and skincare would have much to do with each other, but interestingly enough, a passion for Australian Botany laid the perfect foundation to formulate a skincare brand, especially because many of the ingredients I use are plant-derived.’ 

The journey to launching the brand started in 2022 with what Leighton describes as a series of ‘perfectly timed events’ which led to him taking the leap and decided to build his brand.  

‘Coming from an industry where we love to create, build, and get our hands dirty, my approach to starting my skincare brand was no different. Every aspect of our business, from formulation to manufacture to distribution, has been done in-house—something I am incredibly proud of, especially because the skincare market is definitely oversaturated with a lot of unoriginality.’

Although some brands have shifted away from using botanical oils in skincare as they can cause irritation for some skin types, Leighton said his research ‘ultimately led me down the path of oil-based skincare and the benefits of using botanical oils to feed and nourish your skin, which really fell out of fashion.’

‘I almost liken it to the rise and fall of margarine.’

After months of research and product development in the Leitin Skincare lab, the brand launched with 11 different skincare products, and four hand and body products to our range.

‘A lot of people thought we were crazy at the time, but we built the lab before we had even sold a product. But now people have truly connected with our approach and are often pleasantly surprised to learn that we manufacture all of our products in-house.’

‘Our formulations are entirely original, featuring some of the most exciting and innovative ingredients. It has always been crucial for us to know the origin of every ingredient, understand why we use specific components, and, most importantly, create something unique to our brand.’ 

Unlike other skincare brands, Leitin Skincare caters for all skin types, regardless of gender. Leighton said: ‘The Leitin Skincare philosophy is that skincare should cater to the universal need for healthy, nourished skin, transcending gender boundaries.’
