No contest plea in South San Francisco hit-and-run | Native Information

A driver who ran over a drunk man in South San Francisco and lied about beating the man to law enforcement has not filed a hit-and-run lawsuit, the San Mateo County District Attorney said Friday.

Victor Hernandez Castillo, 52, of South San Francisco, will not sit in the county jail for more than a year after his pleading, with his case continuing through December 14, prosecutors said. Hernandez Castillo was allegedly behind the wheel when the 50-year-old pedestrian was hit at Block 200 of Village Way on Jan. 20, prosecutors said. The pedestrian was very drunk, stumbled and fell to the ground in the middle of the road. Prosecutors said Hernandez Castillo initially lied but eventually admitted hitting the pedestrian and driving home for fear.
