Younger Thug cancels set at Outdoors Lands in San Francisco

Young Thug – the hip-hop star who tops the Billboard 200 with his new album “Punk” – will not take the stage at Outside Lands in San Francisco this year.

The highly influential rapper, who meanwhile has three number 1 albums on his account, was originally supposed to perform on the second day (Saturday, October 30th) at 5 p.m. on the festival’s big Lands End Stage. It was one of the highly anticipated sets of the three-day festival, which runs through October 31.

The organizers of the festival announced earlier today that the set would not take place.

“We are deeply disappointed that we have just been informed that Young Thug will not make his planned appearance at Outside Lands,” said a post on the festival’s Twitter account, @sfoutsidelands.

The organizers did not give a reason for the cancellation.

It’s a big loss as Young Thug is one of the most popular artists today. He just released the second full-length “Punk” on October 15th and it debuted at number 1 and is said to have moved around 90,000 album equivalents in the first week of release.

Fans will still get to hear some hip hop during this time window, however.

“We are happy to announce that Aminé has been added to the line-up and will perform at Lands End at 5 pm,” the tweet continued.

Amine – aka Adam Aminé Danie – is a definite up and coming star of the genre. A native of Portland, Oregon, who now lives in Los Angeles, is best known for the multi-platinum single “Caroline” from 2016, but he also has his two studio albums – “Good for You” from 2017 and “Limbo “From 2020 – reached Top 40 on Billboard 200.

It’s the second big cancellation at Outside Lands this weekend. On Friday, organizers announced that electronic music musician and YouTube star Marc Rebillet had to step down from the October 30 festival lineup due to an injury and will be replaced by singer, musician and comedian Reggie Watts. The set is at 7:10 p.m. on the Sutro stage.
