Transferring Tristan Wirfs to left sort out “simply speak” proper now

Tristan Wirfs was a real tackle for the first three years of his career with the Buccaneers.

But there’s a chance that might change as he enters fourth year.

With Tampa Bay firing Donovan Smith, the club now has a vacancy at left tackle. Could Wirfs fill it? The Buccaneers will think about it, according to general manager Jason Licht.

“We’ve talked about it since we designed Tristan,” Licht said Thursday via “So right now I think it’s just talk. We have low season. We have plenty of time to see how that plays out.”

The 13th overall pick of the 2020 draft, Wirfs hadn’t missed an offensive snap until he sprained his ankle in November.

Wirfs was a 2021 first-team All-Pro and a 2022 second-team All-Pro.
