The Big Dickens Christmas Market and Victorian Holiday Party is very special and a festive treat that I want everyone to experience. The Dickens Fair is truly amazing! Illuminated to look like London in the sparkling setting sun, with over three acres of exhibition space, endless amusements, crafts and games, and fine dining and drinking to your heart's content. There are 800 performers, all dressed in period correct clothing, who take classes to learn how to act and speak in Victorian London. I suggest you put on a costume yourself and take in all the magic.

Step inside and be instantly transported to the streets of cheerful Victorian London as it celebrates Christmas in all its glory. Twilight-lit streets lined with shops, pubs, stages and dance halls filled with more than 800 people Victorian characters and the smell of roasted chestnuts and savory fare. Get yours Travel Map When you go in, stop immediately at the post office to secure your free tickets for the Cheeky French postcard review.

The Great Dickens Christmas market is crowded Holiday magic for the littlest guests, The Tinsel Green Children's Area features hands-on craft activities, old-fashioned games of skill and chance, and lively interactive shows. Young viewers will cheer for the hero and mock the villain in the children's melodrama, while Alice is there in the children's melodrama Mad Hatters Tea Party, or learn the tricks of the chimney sweep trade from the London School Miracle Sweeps. A delightful addition to the usual holiday entertainment where young people can get together Old Santa Claus every day at one o'clock Santa Claus stage, Drive with a hand drive adventure carousel, they cheer toy parade, and laugh at the antics of an authentic Brit Punch & Judy Puppetry.

The Great Dickens Christmas Fair was originally produced in 1970 by Ron and Phyllis Patterson, inspired by their success Renaissance amusement market, which over time brought them to the San Francisco Bay Area Summer of love in 1967. The next generation, Kevin and Leslie Patterson, now along with their adult sons Andrew and Michael, have been producing the fair since 2000, continuing a 50-year family tradition and three generations of deeply immersive, historically authentic environmental theater. Anyone who loves and misses the authenticity of the old Renaissance fair will be thrilled and thrilled The Dickens Fairbecause thanks to the Patterson family's tireless attention to detail, all that old magic is still there and has never left.

One of my favorite sellers is the Sculptor cart, Rebecca love, who creates unique handcrafted ceramic life masks and body casts. Years ago I commissioned one of each for my wife Sandy, and they are actually some of our most treasured pieces of art at home. It is a pleasure to meet and work with Rebecca. There are also tiles and pottery, in styles and designs that only Rebecca can make. Take a look at their latest African masks.

Even though I don't play, I love it too Stephen Joynes' Fiddle Shop. Based in Palo Alto, California, Stephen performs restorations and repairs and runs his stand out of his love for the instruments. He told me, “I work from home.” My workshop is in my garage and my back yard…this is a retirement job for me…I travel to the West Coast and set up my instrument shop at music festivals. “Spreading the joy of music, especially among children, is a very rewarding pastime.” Anyone can appreciate the workmanship of these beautiful instruments.
Steven Overstreet Designs are a supporting pillar The Great Dickens Christmas Marketas well as Renaissance fairs everywhere. “I design my clothing for women to celebrate their inner and outer beauty.” I use color and texture as my fundamental tools. I dye most of the fabrics I use myself, mixing a range of colors not available any other way. Silk velvet is one of my favorite fabrics because of its incredible softness, drape and feel against the skin. “My designs, inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite art movement of the Victorian era, are romantic, sexy and artistic.”

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – (December 2019) The historic Cow Palace will once again be transformed into Dickens’ London, now in its 36th season, The Great Dickens Christmas Fair will run Saturdays and Sundays now through December 23, 2018, offering visitors a delightfully immersive holiday experience without rival.

Holiday Fantasies at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair

The Great Dickens Christmas Fair & Victorian Holiday Party is something very special and a holiday treat I urge everyone to experience. The Dickens Fair is truly astounding! Lighting to look like London in the twinkling setting sun, with over three acres of exhibitions endless amusements, Crafts, and Games, along with Fine Food & Drink to your hearts content. There are 800 hundred cast members, all dressed historically accurately and taught, in classes, how to act and speak as it was done, back in Victorian London. I suggest you don a costume yourself, and take in the whole of the magic.

Walk in and be immediately transported to the street of Merry Victorian London as she celebrates Christmas in all her finery. Twilight-lit streets with shops, pubs, stages and dance halls filled with more than 800 Victorian characters and the aromas of roasted chestnuts and hearty fare.. Pick up your Traveling Map as you go in, and immediately stop at the Post Office to secure your free tickets for the Saucy French Postcard Review.

The Great Dickens Christmas Fair overflows with holiday magic for the youngest guests, offering hands-on craft activities, old-world games of skill and chance, and lively interactive shows in the Tinsel Green Children’s Area. Young audience members will cheer the hero and jeer the villain at the children’s melodrama, join Alice at the Mad Hatters’ Tea Party, or learn the tricks of the chimney-sweep trade from the Miracle Sweeps of London School. A delightful addition to the usual holiday entertainments, youngsters can meet Old Father Christmas each day at one o’clock on the Father Christmas Stage, ride on a hand-powered Adventure Carousel, cheer the Toy Parade, and laugh at the antics of an authentic British Punch & Judy puppet show.

Guests will welcome the return of the Gilbert & Sullivan comic opera “Trial By Jury” in the Victoria & Albert Bijou Music Hall – one of the most successful one-act operettas of all time telling the story of ludicrous circumstances played out by characters who behave as if the events are perfectly normal. Be astounded by the world premiere of “Dr. Xander T. Culpepper’s Miracle Elixir Show Of Miracles,” but don’t expect to walk away with any of his miracle magical tonic; demand is simply too high! Also on the Pennygaff Stage, fresh from a year studying at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the buffoonery of London’s most hilariously silly chimney sweep, Jim Chiminey is welcomed back!

Encounter Mr. Scrooge, Tiny Tim, Oliver Twist, Nancy, and many more of Mr. Dickens’ characters. Queen Victoria, along with Albert and their court, walk the streets of London to mingle with the guest, as only Royalty may. You may join Mr. Samuel Pickwick himself and his fellow “Pickwickians” as they tour London, spreading hilarity and mirth. Throughout London town there is the illustrious Adventurers’ Club, or the Dickens Family Parlour, and the Great Exhibition Stage that will all no doubt, take you back to a time long ago.
For the Best of the Fair, catch a song or two at the Paddy West School of Seamanship, and then stroll down to Mad Sal’s Dockside Ale House where Mad Sal herself will be hosting bold new talents as well as bawdy favorites like the high-kicking dancers of the Le Cancan Bijou in the Mad Sal’s Dockside Music Hall. The gentlemen of Brass Farthing lift a frothy good ale with their rollicking songs and the ladies of The Gin Alley Sally’s musically include you in their ‘Society for the Appreciation of Libation and Spirits.’ Later in the day, the extremely popular and my favorite show production, the outrageous “Saucy French Postcards Tableaux Revue” delight adults over 18 with “Gods & Heroes,” a new episode in the private lives of Horatio and Letitia Everard. Funny how I’m not allowed in with my camera …and no one else is, either!

The Great Dickens Christmas Fair was originally produced by Ron and Phyllis Patterson in 1970, inspired by their successful Renaissance Pleasure Faire, which they brought to the San Francisco Bay Area during the Summer of Love in 1967. The next generation, Kevin and Leslie Patterson now joined by their grown sons Andrew and Michael, have produced the Fair since 2000, continuing a 50-year family tradition and three generations, of deeply immersive, historically authentic environmental theater. For those who love and miss the authenticity of the old Renaissance Faire, you will be dazzled and delighted at The Dickens Fair, as all of that old magic is right here and has never left thanks the Patterson family’s tireless attention to detail.

“Each year we are inspired to be better than ever and are rewarded with the delight and surprise of our guests,” says Executive Director Kevin Patterson. “The holiday spirit of Charles Dickens and his London flourishes for several weeks – and we revel in the merriment and good cheer of all who attend.”

There are beautifully appointed shops and carts offering fine artesian crafts, fanciful clothing and accessories, jewelry, toys, and ornaments’ for the holidays. Little accouterments you would never imagine are discovered with regular delight by shoppers of all ages a desires.

One of my favorite vendors is the cart of Sculptor, Rebecca Love, who creates one-of-a-kind hand crafted ceramic life mask and body castings. Years ago I commissioned one of each for my wife Sandy, and they are indeed part of our most treasured art pieces at home. Rebecca is a delight to know and to work with. There is also tile and pottery , in styles and designs only Rebecca can make. Take a look at her newest African Masks.

Though I do not play, I also love Stephen Joynes’ Fiddle Shop. Based in Palo Alto California, Stephen does restorations and repairs, and operates his booth out of love for the instruments. He told me, `I work out of my house. My workshop is in my garage and backyard…this is a retirement job for me…I travel the west coast and set up my instrument shop at music related festivals. Spreading the joy of music, especially to children, is a very gratifying pastime.’ Everyone can appreciate the workmanship that goes into these beautiful instruments. See more at Steve Joynes, on Pinterest.

Steven Overstreet Designs are a mainstay at The Great Dickens Christmas Fair, as well as Renaissance Faires everywhere. `I design my clothing for women to celebrate their inner and outer beauty. I use color and texture as my basic tools. Most of the fabrics I use I dye myself, mixing a palette of colors that are not available any other way. Silk velvet is one of my favorite fabrics because of its incredible softness, its drape and the feel of it against the skin. My designs, inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite art movement of Victorian times, are romantic, sexy and artful.’

Patrons were told to dust off our glitziest black-tie attire so as to indulge in fine wine, cocktails, and bites, as the most extraordinary burlesque, variety and circus performers the Bay Area and beyond has to offer. All were showcased at the fabulous Saint Joseph’s Art Society venue.

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — It took 23 seasons but the San Francisco Giants recorded their 100th “splash hit” home run on Friday.

Giants first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. hit a home run on the first pitch late in the first inning against the Baltimore Orioles and sent the ball over the right field wall straight into McCovey Cove on the San Francisco Bay. It was the 100th time a giant has scored a so-called “splash hit” in recent decades.

Despite the historic home run, the Giants lost 3-2 to the Orioles on Friday.

No charges against Rendon for altercation with A’s fan

Ever since Oracle Park opened in 2000, it’s been a tradition for fans and kayakers to hang out in McCovey Cove hoping to get lucky and go home with a ball. The lucky fan who snagged Friday’s splash hit was apparently on the broadcast and looked stunned as he sat in his kayak.

According to the Giants’ website, Barry Bonds was the first Giant to bat a ball in the water on May 1, 2000. Bonds recorded 35 splash hits during his tenure with the team, the most of any Giants in history. Brandon Belt is second with 10.

A total of 28 different San Francisco players have hit home runs at McCovey Cove — and they’re all left-handed.

If you include the opposing teams, there have actually been 155 splash hits in the history of the stadium. Two of the 55 splash hits by guest players came from Los Angeles Dodger Max Muncy. Bryce Harper, Carlos Gonzalez and today’s Giants DH Joc Pederson are among the other notable opponents who have racked up multiple splash hits.

America’s Newest Superfood Sweep Show: Healthy, High-Quality, Sustainably-Farmed Antarctic Krill Meat, Praised by Hundreds of Show Attendees – From International Wholesalers, Chefs, Hoteliers and Restaurateurs to Government Agencies and Beyond – for Its Unparalleled Combination of Great Flavor, Nutritional value, versatility and economic value

For the most part, krill meat is a relatively new protein that most consumers — and even some food industry experts — have never heard of or have certainly tried. That truth led Krill Arctic Foods to the National Restaurant Association show, held in Chicago in May 2023. As the first global supplier of this exciting new keto and paleo-friendly protein, the company is quickly gaining ground as the leading and most recognized brand pioneering this unique seafood, touted for its nutritional value and versatility. It can be used as a primary or complementary ingredient in various recipe types that resemble crabmeat applications: dips, sauces, salads, dressings, spreads, fillings, soups, pizza, sushi, fried rice, burgers, fritters, pies, chowders, stuffed peppers, stuffed Mushrooms, ravioli and other pastas, dumplings and more inspired by the gourmet’s imagination.

The feedback we’ve received on our various krill samples has been consistently positive…the National Restaurant Association Show has definitely helped attract new followers and the recipe page on our website has seen a nice increase in traffic.”

Also of note is that our Antarctic krill meat has a long shelf life of three full years.”

krill 101

Antarctic krill, scientifically named Euphausia superba, are small crustaceans about 10 to 65 mm long with a translucent body with a reddish tint. Krill is rich in a variety of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids. It’s one of the healthiest foods on the planet and is known to “nourish an entire ecosystem.”

Krill is considered a key species, meaning it plays an important role in the ecosystem by serving as an important food source for a wide variety of marine organisms, including fish, whales, penguins, seals and seabirds. Krill can form huge swarms comprising millions of individuals. Krill feed on phytoplankton (microscopic algae) and zooplankton, and use special appendages called thoracopods to filter tiny particles out of the water. Known for their unique feeding behavior, they often form dense schools near the sea surface where they feed on phytoplankton blooms.

Wild and carefully harvested

According to Nasti, krill is 100% sustainable and its operation is recognized as one of the most sustainable wild fisheries in the world because it operates in accordance with strict industry guidelines. These crustaceans are harvested by Krill Arctic Foods from the pure, pristine waters of the Antarctic Ocean. Freshly caught krill is cleaned over a period of three to four hours, then blanched and frozen to preserve maximum flavor, texture and nutritional value.

The company’s factory ship, the More Sodruzhestva 2, is the only one of its kind with the ability to capture, clean and process Antarctic krill on board. It is then heat sealed in cans with water and its own natural oils. A video of this process can be found on the company’s website in the Learn section.

environmental and ecosystem integrity

Not only is krill meat delicious, but it offers the same health benefits as krill oil supplements. It does so in delicious form with negligible environmental impact. Nasti reports that around 2% of the world krill supply is used in the food chain and over 80% is harvested for oil additives.

In several articles discussing the negative impact of krill overfishing on our marine life, Nasti comments on this important issue. “We are doing our part to ensure that our fisheries do not negatively impact our marine ecosystems in any way,” he says. “Our krill meat is caught under the strict guidelines of the Convention for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, known as CCAMLR, to ensure and promote the health and sustainability of the krill population in the Antarctic Ocean. The CCAMLR consists of 25 member countries that meet once a year in October to make decisions to protect and conserve the southern marine ecosystem. One of the issues discussed is the level of quotas for fishing to ensure there is enough krill left for all marine life that depends on it to survive. Our annual krill quota is less than 2% of the total krill biomass, which is estimated to be up to 500 million tons.

health issues

Among its health benefits, krill is known for having the highest source of protein with a far higher digestibility rate than the digestible protein in other meat sources, making krill a far superior source of protein. In fact, a study published in the journal Food Chemistry examined the digestibility of Antarctic krill meal and found a digestibility rate of 89.1% for protein and 89.6% for lipids.

As krill are the only marine crustaceans that follow a vegan diet, this meat is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a healthy and sustainable source of protein. Of course, it’s always best to get your vitamins, minerals, and nutrients from food first and supplements last. While krill oil offers numerous health benefits due to the healthy fats and antioxidants it contains, Antarctic krill meat offers all the benefits of krill oil and more—including 15 grams of digestible protein per 105g serving.

According to Krill Arctic Foods, it has been scientifically proven that Antarctic krill meat, as supplied from there, improves heart health, lowers cholesterol, reduces inflammation, maintains healthy eyes and vision, supports brain function, reduces the risk of developing autoimmune diseases and cancer and weight loss aids, promotes metabolic and reproductive health, aids in anti-aging and promotes healthier hair, skin and nails, neutralizes free radicals to prevent cell damage, supports liver function and even helps relieve depression.

Krill Arctic Foods is clearly the industry’s leading expert and exclusive supplier of sustainably fished, premium quality Antarctic krill meat. If you are a food or hospitality brand and are looking for a unique and healthy specialty that will make your restaurant or grocery store stand out from the rest, this company is a brilliant place to start.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – Some of society’s most unusual ideas have turned out to be money makers. It’s a truism a San Francisco real estate agent relied on this summer when he tried to sell 1.1 acre property below San Francisco Bay.

In a city where property prices often seem irrational, listing certainly offers a cheap alternative for bargain hunters.

To see the vacant lot, you need to overcome some natural barriers.

The site is clearly off the beaten path but gives you the opportunity to enjoy recreational fishing.

And for the weather? Sunny and mild with some fantastic views.

The only caveat is that the 1.1 acre property is submerged and located three blocks east of Candlestick Park.

The property was bought by Trent Zhu a few years ago.

VIDEO: Historic Victorian home moved that SF hasn’t seen in 47 years

We asked the owner what he was up to with it when he originally bought the land.

As a daytime real estate agent, Zhu recalls that he had no plans for the property at the time; it was good business.

“I didn’t see the property myself,” says Zhu.

He bought his land at auction in San Francisco County for less than $ 5,000 about six years ago. The asking price is $ 75,000 today.

So far, Zhu has no buyers, but people are certainly curious.

Resident Mary Gutekanst had no answer when asked if she would consider buying the property other than a roaring laugh.

“Maybe build it above sea level and stand on stilts or something,” says Mark Corsetti, who knows the area well.

Zhu hopes another pier could be added to the San Francisco waterfront.

“Like a pier, a stadium,” suggested the owner.

A stadium, he said? That can be a good investment as a certain baseball team is now threatened with building a ballpark outside of Oakland.

Here’s another revelation; Zhu owns several other underwater properties.

VIDEO: ‘Floating Home’: Check Out The San Francisco Houseboat For $ 1.8 Million In Cash

“It’s just one thing at a time, if someone wants to buy more, I can sell more, that’s just one thing,” the real estate agent clarified.

At the moment, Zhu says he’s just testing the water.

“It owns a piece of San Francisco and is buying in the future,” he added.

Nothing beats a good sales pitch.
