Suffolk Completes 200 Linden, New Condominium Undertaking in Coronary heart of Downtown South San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Suffolk, one of the country’s most innovative and successful construction and real estate companies, recently completed construction on 200 Linden Avenue, a 97-unit condominium in South San Francisco that includes 78 commercial and 19 affordable units. The 200 Linden is centrally located near downtown South San Francisco and the city’s Caltrain train station. It is an eight-story multi-family complex developed by Hisense Real Estate and designed by BDE Architecture. The new development, officially called The Linden, shows the demand for public transportation and urban living in a post-COVID world.

“Well thought-out housing developments, especially projects that address critical issues such as affordability and access to transportation, drive cultural and economic advancement in our communities,” said Mike DiNapoli, general manager of Suffolk Northern California. “Suffolk prides itself on using innovative processes and technology to support the development of community projects like The Linden that contribute to the bright future of South San Francisco.”

The building has a contemporary architectural design and offers a mix of one, two, and three bedroom floor plans, each with their own floor plans and amenities. Residents have a variety of indoor and outdoor meeting spaces, including a designer lobby with lounge seating areas. a lush courtyard; a community clubhouse and a beautiful view. There is also one garage space per residential area with electric vehicle stations (EV) as well as bicycle parking spaces and EV bicycle charging stations.

Suffolk used MiTek Cold Formed Steel Plate (CFS) to build the superstructure. Given the unprecedented restrictions imposed by COVID, the implementation of these panels had a significant positive impact on the project’s schedule. In fact, 200 Linden is the only building in the world that uses these panels stacked on five levels in a wooden frame structure. MiTek technology has proven so effective that the Suffolk team is considering including it in the design process for Type III construction projects.
