San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin to enter alcohol therapy | Bay Space

San Francisco supervisor Aaron Peskin said Thursday he would seek treatment for alcohol addiction.

In a statement, the District 3 supervisor thanked his friends, family, colleagues, and co-workers for helping him deal with his personal problems.

“After careful consideration, I decided to start alcohol treatment under professional guidance,” he said. “I stand by my long legislative and civil history, but I also have to take full responsibility for the tenor that I have struck in my public relations – I am really sorry for that.”

He said, “I take my duties and responsibilities as a community member and officer seriously and remain deeply committed to the issues and legislative agenda that I have followed on behalf of the people of San Francisco for the past two decades.”

Peskin was first elected to the board in 2000 and served for eight years, then was re-elected to the board in 2015. Its borough includes neighborhoods such as Nob Hill, North Beach, Chinatown, and the Financial District.
