Astro’s (15-13) update: After starting the weekend in a tie with the Rangers at the top of the American League West, Houston is two games behind Texas after losing two of three games to the Phillies. … Yordan Alvarez, who returned to the lineup on Saturday after missing four games with a neck condition, has reached base in all 22 games he’s played, the longest streak in the AL this year. … In his last eight games, Jeremy Peña is 11-to-32 (.344) with three home runs. … In his first April on an MLB roster, Brown limited opponents to a .206 batting average in his five starts, a total of 32 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings. … In the first five games of his rehab stint with Class AAA Sugar Land, Michael Brantley is 3-for-14 (.214) with three walks. At some point during a nine-game road trip that follows this streak, he will return to the Astros. … Chas McCormick is two games into a rehab assignment with Class AA Corpus Christi. Giants (11-16) update: San Francisco is fourth in the National League West after being defeated by the Padres in two games in Mexico City. … Giants pitchers, who have a 4.75 cumulative ERA, conceded six home runs in a 16-11 loss to San Diego on Saturday, setting the club record since the franchise moved from New York to San Francisco in 1958. … Infielder Thairo Estrada is among the NL leaders in batting averages (third, .346), hits (fifth, 36) and stolen bases (sixth, eight). … Left fielder Lamonte Wade has a .959 OPS which ranks 10th in the National League. He is fourth in the NL in on-base percentage (.430) and walks (20). … Helpers Tyler Rogers (2.93 ERA) and Taylor Rogers (7.00) are the fourth batch of twins to be on the same major league roster. (Tyler is right-handed and Taylor left-handed.) The others were Jose and Ozzie Canseco (1990 Oakland A’s), Eddie and Johnny O’Brien (1953, 1955-58 Pittsburgh Pirates), and Joe and Red Shannon (1915 Boston Braves).
