New handyman franchise launches in Fort Collins – Loveland Reporter-Herald

Matt Bryant, owner of a new TruBlue Total House Care franchise in Fort Collins, is hoping to work by the rule of three.

Answer every call by the third ring. Prepare estimates within three days. Start a home improvement project in three weeks.

So far he’s on the right track, even though the company has only been around since March 10th.

Founded in 2011 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the franchisor is one of the fastest growing franchise networks in the country. The company specializes in providing services to elderly homeowners who want to age in place.

While Bryant has earned Senior Safety Specialist certification to help elderly homeowners or those with special needs identify their need for handrails, ramps, and lighting, that’s not the only thing the new franchise is doing.

“One day I hung up a picture. Today (Friday) I’m working on a deck rebuild,” he said. He shared that the decking project was originally intended as repair work, but the homeowner had to do more because of the deteriorating substructure.

Bryant’s franchise spans all of Fort Collins, Severance and Timnath, as well as rural areas north of Wyoming.

There’s another franchise in Greeley that includes Windsor, he said.

Bryant would love to add Loveland and Longmont to his franchise.

It has a crew of four plus one part-time worker. Crew members have various certifications and experience.

“One had a craft business for 42 years. Another had a framing and cutting company,” he said.

Bryant has project management experience in the construction of metal buildings and office buildings. He also worked in the Poudre Valley School District, for a time as the director of transportation.

He acknowledged that there is a lot of competition in the handyman space. “There is also a great need,” he said. TruBlue’s focus is on seniors, but that’s not its only focus. Services for seniors are an important factor in the company’s growth, he said.

Projects are priced based on the estimated number of hours required to complete, plus materials.

The interest so far has been great. His rule of three has worked so far – his bookings are now two weeks later, he said. “Once they are three weeks old, we will add technicians,” he said.
