Jerry Moreland Obituary (1930 – 2015) – Millbrae, CA

Jerry David MorelandJerry died peacefully at his home in Millbrae surrounded by his loving family at the age of 85. He was born in 1930 to Lewis Moreland and Ruby Christopher in St. Louis, Missouri. Jerry met the love of his life, Lucille, née Furey, and moved to California in 1953 with their then 11-month-old son Michael.
Jerry was a small business owner and started Jerry Moreland & Son Plumbing Inc. in 1963. When Jerry retired from the business in 1994, he devoted himself to his passion of restoring vintage cars. Jerry built a Gatsby and a Daytona Ferrari from scratch. Jerry also restored three cars, a 1964 Ford Ranchero, a 1953 Buick Roadster and the pride of his collection, a 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe. The Corvette frequently won first place at the Hillsborough Concours d'Elegance car show. Jerry enjoyed family reunions, traveling and salmon fishing in Alaska. In retirement, Jerry also enjoyed time with loved ones at his second home in Discovery Bay.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucille; his three children, Michael (Terrie), Barbara Porter (Jim, deceased), and Debbie Henry (Richard); his eight grandchildren, Bryan Moreland (Betsy), Lisa Papa (Dan), Travis Porter, Trevor Porter (Theresa), Chawntay Deo (Jason), Jarrett Henry, Michael Moreland Jr., and Michelle Moreland; and his nine great-grandchildren; and his cousins, Judy and Bob Hochecker of O'Fallon, Missouri, and his nephew Don Short (Kim), of O'Fallon, Missouri.
The memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Highlands, 194 Millwood Drive Millbrae, CA 94030.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the American Heart Association.
