‘Hospice by the Bay’ Is Now ‘By the Bay Well being’ – San Francisco Bay Occasions

Founded over 45 years ago, Hospice by the Bay is the oldest nonprofit hospice in California. It is a trusted provider of hospice care and other services. It is valued throughout the Bay Area and in the communities in which it operates, and has a heritage of providing optimal care to patients during some of the most vulnerable stages of the human experience.

The venerable nonprofit recently announced its new name, By the Bay Health. The name change is intended to reflect the organization’s growing service lines, which now include hospice care, skilled home health services, palliative care (comfort care), pediatric care, and grief counseling.

With its origins as a hospice provider, By the Bay Health has evolved its home health services to meet patients early on their health journey and ensure compassionate care at every stage of life. As the country’s aging population continues to grow, By the Bay Health has developed service lines that enable patients to seamlessly transition from rehabilitation care to more personalized care, contributing to fewer hospital stays and longer hospital stays.

The organization continues to meet the growing demand for more options for innovative home health services and is committed to expanding its services beyond hospice care to more patients in the Bay Area and Northern California.

With Bay Health’s affiliation with the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF), Health has contributed to the growing expansion of its service lines and has enabled the organization to offer one of the highest doctor-to-patient ratios in Northern California. This valued partnership gives patients access to shared resources and clinical expertise from one of the world’s most prestigious medical institutions.

By the Bay Health is committed to creating a safe, confidential space where individuals feel comfortable and understood as they face the challenges and changes that come from the loss of a loved one. Grief support and end-of-life care education are also offered to families, carers and the entire community. Professionally trained counselors provide support and convenience for those anticipating or managing the loss of a loved one through virtual grief counseling, support groups and workshops.

By the Bay Health is a local non-profit organization with offices in Larkspur, San Francisco, and Sonoma. She cares for patients in Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Sonoma, and Alameda Counties, as well as American Canyon, Napa, and Vallejo. The organization also offers bilingual services in Chinese and Spanish to patients and families.
