Saskatchewan is investing $ 2 million in channel clearing
The Saskatchewan government will provide $ 2 million over a two-year period to expand the canal opening to rural communities across the province. The Water Security Agency originally budgeted $ 600,000 for the canal clearance over a two-year period. The increase in funding will bring the program to $ 500,000 for fiscal 2020-21 and $ 1.5 million for 2021-22. Sewer cleaning removes beaver dams, debris, trees and bushes and removes silt and blows dirt from and along natural canals.
