File late-season snow, chilly transferring throughout US

Record breaking snow and cold roam the US, with some places not seeing as much snow this late in the season in recorded history.

Kansas City, Missouri saw a record 3.5 inches of snow on Tuesday.

Paducah, Kentucky measured half an inch of snow, making it the newest measurable snow ever recorded in the city.

In addition to the historic snow in the late season, temperatures drop to a record low on Wednesday morning.

The dozen of record lows on Wednesday morning include Indianapolis at 21 degrees, Dallas at 38 degrees and Oklahoma City at 30 degrees.

From New Mexico to Connecticut, much of the United States is subject to a frost warning and recommendation as this unusually cold air mass moves east.

Some of the wind chill on Wednesday morning are teenage and single digits in the plains and the Rockies.

The coldest air will hit the northeast and east coast on Thursday morning.

Before this storm system, warm air could help create severe thunderstorms from Norfolk, Virginia to New York City and Springfield, Massachusetts on Wednesday.

The main threat to these Wednesday afternoon storms is noxious winds, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, particularly along the Hudson Valley and southern New England.
