Distant-friendly Twitter Expands San Francisco Headquarters

Although Twitter has made a permanent commitment to remote work agreements, the social media giant has done so expanded its headquarters in San Francisco.

Twitter has added nearly 80,000 square feet to its existing headquarters while relocating to a different space at 1355 Market Street previously occupied by online marketplace for household services Thumbtack.

“The relocation of our offices is in line with our real estate and workplace strategy. Sometimes we extend our decision to sublet floors, while other times we take them back to use as our own,” the company said. “This strategy is about giving us maximum flexibility for our future real estate needs.”

Twitter is also currently trying to sublet space on 10th Street adjacent to the 1355 Market Street location.

The move goes against the tide of current trends that are seeing companies trim their real estate as they transition to hybrid or remote working policies.
