Corey Kluber nonetheless assured that issues are transferring within the ‘proper course’

The Yankees lost their second game in a row this afternoon. It was a game with several changes in leadership. In the end, the Blue Jays prevailed in an accessible way. A terrible end to a terrible series for the bombers.

It started with Corey Kluber on the hill. With Taillon running less than five innings on Tuesday night, the Yankees needed clubs. At first sight it didn’t look like that would be the case.

Corey Kluber started the game 1-0 thanks to a solo shot by Aaron Judge. He knocked out Semien but allowed Bichette to get in the middle with a single. From there, Bichette stole the second. He then finished third on a floor outside of Guerrero Jr. Club went to Grichuk and found himself in a hole early. Fortunately, he escaped without harm. However, his pitch count was already in the twenties.

On the way to the second, New York was another one. But that would change quickly after Kluber gave Kirk a two-run shot. Then, on the third, Bichette walked into the yard and gave Toronto a two-run lead. After a triple inning of the Bomber in fourth place, however, Kluber was back on top. Kluber would admit two more men. But a 4-6-3 double game ended the inning.

That was it for clubs. The Yankees drew him after 77 pitches and four innings of work. His last line was: 4.0 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 SO, 2 HR.

After the game, Kluber was asked about his performance. He responded by saying that he was “just as frustrated as anyone” with the result, but that it was “another step in the right direction” for him. Although he tried to give the Yankees length, he thought his “stuff” and “location” were getting better. He says that he still makes “more mistakes” than he would like, but that they are “less and less” each time.

Despite Kluber’s struggles in his last two starts, he seems confident that with more reps, things will level off. The improvement is not shown on the statistics sheet, but from a personal point of view, Kluber seems happy with where he is.

Kluber and the Yankees will be looking to get back on track in the Bronx on Friday when they start a three-game set against the Rays!
