SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Gubernatorial candidate Caitlyn Jenner expresses concern about the homeless crisis in California.

In an exclusive interview with Inside California Politics, Jenner talked about a recent visit to Venice Beach.

The beach is a popular tourist area and has been inundated by homeless camps that have proliferated along the popular promenade and in the surrounding neighborhoods.

“They’re destroying Venice Beach. They’re destroying all the shops down there, ”Jenner said. “You don’t have to be there. The crime rate is increasing … it is mostly homeless against homeless homeless murders. We can’t have that on our streets. “

In the meantime, attempts are being made to evacuate the area and move unoccupied people into apartments.

Earlier this month, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homeless Outreach Services team was dispatched to the area to clear the beach of all homeless camps by July 4th. The area is not under the sheriff’s jurisdiction.

The number of homeless in the county is estimated at more than 60,000, according to the Associated Press.

“We have to clean up these places. We need to provide a place for these people, whether it’s an open field somewhere or when you come to the veterans facility and find that there are these big open fields and lots of places, “Jenner said.

71-year-old Jenner, who won the men’s Olympic decathlon in 1976 and became a reality TV star and transgender woman decades later, announced her candidacy back in June in a written statement on Twitter. Since then, their campaign has been slow to develop.
