74-year-old girl dies after being pushed into shifting practice in San Francisco – Finger Lakes Each day Information
(SAN FRANCISCO) — The 74-year-old woman who was pushed into an oncoming train at a Bay Area Rapid Transit station has died and a man has been arrested in connection with her death, BART police said.
According to BART police, the woman hit her head on the train around 11 p.m. Monday night and fell onto the platform at Powell Street Station.
BART police arrested 49-year-old Trevor Belmont, a homeless man also known by the nickname Hoak Taing, authorities said.
The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and later died.
According to BART police, this is the first murder on the train system this year.
Belmont was arrested shortly after the incident and is being taken to the San Francisco County Jail.
According to jail records, Belmont is being held on charges of murder and elder abuse. A trial date has not yet been set.
BART police have not yet found a motive for the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
