A sore and sore arm is one of the most common side effects after a coronavirus vaccination.

With millions of people queuing up to get their vaccines to stop Covid-19, many may wake up the next day with a tender muscle.

But one trick that’s going viral on social media can keep you from getting a sore arm after vaccination – and experts say it works.

The people on Tik Tok swung their arm like a windmill shortly after the jab, as if swimming backwards.

One user demonstrated the movement and wrote, “This shit works better so my arm doesn’t hurt tomorrow”.

Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious disease specialist and professor of medicine at the University of California San Francisco, says the trick actually works.

He told local news site SFGATE, “For me as an infectious disease doctor, it actually makes sense. Basically, they increase the blood supply to the vaccinated arm. ”

He added, “It stays local so the first thing your immune system will say is, ‘Hey, there’s this foreign invader in here.’

“It will start to be trained, which is good, and that is what you want. So that inflammation occurs in the muscle area. “

One of the most common side effects of Covid-19, according to NHS Scotland, is “a painful, heavy feeling and tenderness in the arm you received your injection in”.

However, this aching pain is just a sign that the vaccine is working to trigger the immune system.

When you are vaccinated, the arm muscle slowly releases them, with your body sending white blood cells to attack the foreign invader.

This can often lead to inflammation – but moving your arm around can allow blood to flow to this area faster.

The pain only lasts for a few days and experts advise not moving your arm until the 15-minute waiting period for allergic reactions has expired.
