SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — In an apparent crime spree in San Francisco, several homes in different neighborhoods across the city were targeted by home invasion robbers within a few hours involving a gray Infiniti.

William Ton was at home with his mother on Jan. 4, when would-be intruders tried to break in through the front door on 31st Avenue in the Outer Richmond.

READ MORE: COVID: Masks Will Still Be Required In Some Places Even After Mandate Is Lifted

“As you can see their goal was to get in through the lock opening here,” said Ton, showing KPIX 5 a photo of the damage.

Ton believes his dog Chewy ultimately deterred the crooks.

“He was barking and yelping the whole entire time and usually when he does that, we thought he was trying to bark at other dogs,” he said.

Around the same time, a neighbor’s ring camera a few houses down captured a gray Infiniti parked out front. A person gets out and walks up to the door and knocks.

“I could hear tools clanking in his jacket,” said Tom Hsieh said. “He went up and knocked on our neighbor’s door and this was all on our video. Thankfully, he didn’t get in, because they’re elderly shut-ins, they’re a great couple, but they’re old. They must have come to the door, because he went back to his car, and then hit our neighbor four or five doors up.”

“I’m shocked, around this neighborhood, it’s usually very quiet,” Ton said. “People around here are great, and for these guys to just come around and do what they please, and get away with it, it’s just crazy.”

Security video just one street over on 30th Avenue and Fulton Street shows a gray Infiniti backing into the driveway of an apartment complex about 10 minutes later before noon.

Using what appears to be a tool, two suspects break the gate and then a third one follows. A resident who was home at the time said they hit three units in about 10 minutes. Video shows the suspects rushing out of the complex with bags in hand.

Earlier that same morning, about five miles away in the Outer Mission / Ingleside neighborhood, a gray Infiniti is seen backing into the driveway. Two sisters were inside at the time. The suspects broke the metal gate and forced their way in.

“I hid in the closet because I didn’t really know what to do. I was really scared,” said one of the sisters, who declined to give her name for privacy reasons.

Video shows three suspects wearing what appears to be the same clothes running into the getaway car with stolen items.

“They’re going into our homes like they’re going into our parked cars in the middle of the night, except they’re doing it in broad daylight,” said Hsieh. “They don’t care if we’re in those homes or not, they don’t care if there are seniors there or children there. They’re just going in and taking things. This is not acceptable at all at any level and San Francisco – all of us have to say enough is enough.”

San Francisco Police today announced the arrest of five suspects allegedly responsible for a series of at least three home robberies in the Ingleside neighborhood.

The five suspects were named Devontae Rutherford, 26, of Richmond, 37-year-old George Redmond of Richmond, 27-year-old Adrian Landers of Elk Grove, 39-year-old Travis Fields of Stockton, and 25. identified -year-old Marvin Williams of Antioch.

The three armed robberies believed to have committed the suspects occurred in the middle of the day on August 3, August 9 and September 2, house robberies in the San Francisco Bay Area. “

The summaries of the incidents, via the SFPD Robbery Detail, can be found below.

At around 12:12 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, San Francisco police officers at Ingleside Station on the 500 block on Sunnydale Avenue responded to a report of a home robbery. The officers arrived on site and met with the two victims, an 81-year-old woman and an 81-year-old man. The victims told officials that the suspects had already fled their homes. Officials questioned the victims, who said three suspects had broken into their homes. The female victim said that one of the suspects aimed a firearm at the victims while the other two suspects were walking through the victims’ home. The perpetrators took cash and jewelry and fled the house. The victims were not injured during the incident. At around 2:20 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, police officers from Taraval Station in San Francisco on the 100 block of Louisburg Street answered for a report of a home robbery. The officers arrived on site and met with the victims, a 62-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman and a 17-year-old man. The 62-year-old victim told officers the suspects broke into his garage, physically restrained him and forced him into the house where the suspects found the other victims. A suspect then hit the victim with a gun, injuring them. The suspects forced all victims into a room while the other suspects ransacked their homes and stole US currency, jewelry and other items. The suspects then fled in a vehicle. The victim, who was hit with a gun, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Interpreting services were not requested. The fourth suspect was not seen in the house. At around 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021, San Francisco police officers at Ingleside Station on the 600 block on Paris Street answered for a report of a home robbery. The officers arrived on site and met with the victim, a 43-year-old man. The victim said he was in his room when an unidentified male suspect entered and pointed a gun at him. The suspect held the victim at gunpoint while two other suspects searched the victim’s home. The suspects took away jewelry and watches before escaping the house.

All five people were charged with first-degree robbery and burglary, with crime reforms added.

Anyone with information about this or any other home invasion incident can call the anonymous SFPD tip hotline at 415-575-4444 or send a tip to TIP411 and put “SFPD” at the beginning of the message. The investigation continues.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Fed up with brash property crimes, residents of the Marina District of San Francisco are taking matters into their own hands to protect themselves.

“We don’t feel safe in our neighborhood,” said Katie Lyons, a Beach Street resident. “And we have an alarm, we have cameras on our property, but we want the extra security that someone is keeping an eye on our house.”

CONTINUE READING: Storm System Buildings in the Pacific; Strong atmospheric river pounding on the bay

She said home and car break-ins in her neighborhood were so out of control that she is now paying for the security services of Patrol Special Officer Alan Byard.

Some of their neighbors have also recently become customers. Byard said he made several laps in his vehicle from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. looking for anything inappropriate or suspicious. He charges $ 65 a month per place of residence.

“It’s a beautiful area down here, people are scared of what’s going on,” said Byard. “They want a safe place to raise their children. Last year 10 of my customers left the city. “

Byard, who also patrols companies, says its private customers have more than doubled since the pandemic began, from 70 to 150 in the marina alone.

The biggest problem in the area is car break-ins, he said. He often deals with the homeless who sleep on the residents’ front doors. Petty thefts and break-ins are also common, according to Byard.

Patrol Special Officers work as private patrols overseen by the Police Commission.

Lyons said it was not uncommon to find stolen property, including empty luggage, right outside her home. Car burglars frequently break into vehicles parked at the nearby Palace of Fine Arts.

“Especially at night I don’t walk with a purse, I drive or take an Uber, and that becomes a problem during the day too,” added Lyons.

In fact, popular Australian singer Clinton Kane was the victim of a brazen armed robbery in nearby Cow Hollow on Friday. Thieves made off with more than $ 30,000 worth of camera equipment.

Several videos posted on social media show that theft only lasts a few seconds and that witnesses or passing drivers do not deter burglars day or night.

A surveillance video by Trisha Bantigue shows a car break-in on Hawthorne Street and Howard Street in SoMa last month. She said she was careful not to leave anything in her brand new car and was still not immune.

A dash cam video was repeatedly recorded on Friday at Fisherman’s Wharf on Beach Street and Columbus Avenue. A waiting black Audi followed closely before the suspect finally stepped in.

Allan Brown, a resident of Marina, has lived in the area for 20 years.

When asked if property crime has gotten worse:
