The world’s most famous plumber has arrived in San Francisco.

On Thursday, pedestrians and drivers alike on the streets of SF can be treated to a surprise appearance from the Mushroom Kingdom’s go-to pipe-clearing go-to place: Super Mario. Ahead of the April 5 premiere of the new Super Mario Bros. Movie, and coinciding with the annual Game Developers Conference, a bright yellow van decorated with a logo will be driving around town handing out free merchandise related to the movie.

The van started the day on Treasure Island before stopping near Market Street. The remainder of the afternoon includes the planned Haight-Ashbury route, the Golden Gate Bridge, Marina Green, Fisherman’s Wharf, North Beach, Moscone Center (for GDC) and Oracle Park.

Although the drivers aren’t dressed up as Mario and Luigi, the van has plenty of nerdy details for fans. A sticker on the back of the van confirms Mario’s plumber’s license (although they only serve Brooklyn and Queens), and a phone number (929-55-MARIO) leads to a cheeky voice message announcing a new slogan about their quick service, the stock has some Familiarity for fans of the series: “We’re not saying let’s wait. We say let’s go!”

The Aaron Judge stove is officially too hot to touch.

The 2022 AL MVP was seen in a San Francisco hotel in a video posted by MLB Network Monday night. Shortly after the video was posted, it was reported that Judge is in the Bay Area to meet with the Giants, one of his top suitors this offseason. Judge will meet with the team Tuesday, according to an MLB.com report, which called the Giants “one of the biggest threats to the Yankees in the Judge sweepstakes.”

In the clip, Judge is asked what he’s doing in the city. He tells the person behind the camera that he’s “visiting some friends and family. That’s about it, that’s about it,” before winking. Judge is from Linden, a small town about 100 miles east of San Francisco. His parents still live there.

Of course, the real major breaking news from this clip is what’s happening under Judge’s chin. The 30-year-old appears to be rocking a bit of stubble as he’s prepared to explore his options during the most captivating free agency saga this winter.

The Yankees famously have a rule against facial hair on their players. Could this be a sign that Judge is preparing for a life where he no longer has to abide by such tyranny? The money might ultimately matter more, but such a change probably couldn’t hurt.

Officials are asking the public to help identify a woman photographed feeding apparently raw meat to coyotes in the San Francisco neighborhood of Bernal Heights, ABC affiliate KGO reported Wednesday.

So far, the shelter has not managed to find the woman but is optimistic “somebody in the public can tell us who she is, so we can reach out to her and get her to stop doing this,” Virginia Donohue, executive director of San Francisco Animal Care and Control, told the outlet.

Officials are looking for this woman, who they said was feeding coyotes in a California town. (San Francisco Animal Care and Control)

When coyotes expect food from humans, as with any wildlife, they “lose their natural wariness of people,” Donohue explained to the outlet. “They begin to see people as a source of food.”

(Shutterstock)

Regarding potential attacks, Donohue noted the animals “are pretty reserved. We don’t really think they will attack somebody.”

Coyotes viewing people as a way to get food is the reason behind federal officials’ decision last month to euthanize a coyote, which had continuously approached toddlers at the San Francisco Botanical Garden, KTVU Fox 2 reports.

“That’s not natural behavior,” Donohue told the outlet. “A coyote should not be walking up to a child in any circumstance. I don’t know what the coyote’s intent was, but it’s certainly a dangerous situation. … By just not feeding them is probably going to take care of a lot of the problems we have.”

A wayward mountain lion roams San Francisco’s bustling Bernal Heights neighborhood, far from the quiet green spaces it calls home.

The sightings, one from an eyewitness and another via a home security video, took place between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Tuesday. San Francisco Animal Care and Control spokeswoman Deb Campbell said puma sightings are not uncommon in the city, but research reveals many to be common house cats. Those sightings on Gaven Street and near Bernal Heights Park, however, were the real deal.

“If we hadn’t seen him in this video, we might have thought it was a large, healthy domestic cat that the eyewitness saw,” said Campbell.

I’ve just spoken to the homeowner in the Portola district who shot the mountain lion. She gave me the original video which is a little clearer than the one I posted earlier. pic.twitter.com/HBEZnwyI9A

Campbell said the mountain lion appeared large and may have been an adult. A mountain lion made it to Mission Bay a year ago, but that person was a lanky teenager.

“The lockdown is over,” joked Campbell. “Maybe he was looking for nightlife but couldn’t find one and went home.”

The home is likely to be in South Bay, particularly in the Crystal Springs area. This is likely to be a very stressful experience for the poor adventurer as mountain lions are naturally retired. This shyness can also explain why no one saw the puma cruising the city streets in daylight or at dusk.

“You’re shy, you keep to yourself,” said Campbell. “We have more mountain lion visitors than we actually experience.”

Animal Care and Control patrolled the neighborhood looking for further evidence of the furry visitor, but did not see him. Campbell says the mountain lion may have made it out of town by now, but neighbors should take sensible precautions, such as walking back and forth. B. Keeping your dogs on a leash and watching your young children. When the animal approaches, make yourself big, wave your arms, and don’t turn your back or run.

Anyone who sees the mountain lion should call the Animal Care and Control emergency number at 415-554-9400.
