A plane passenger captured the moment that a plane, just parallel to his was at a standstill in the sky over a bridge in San Francisco

The video was posted online and attracted commenters to speculate what might have caused it

The moment is known to be extremely rare and amazing to witness

This is the incredible moment a passenger spotted another plane ‘hanging in mid-air’ over San Francisco.

Posted to Reddit, the video attracted many commenters who questioned the reason for the plane being at a standstill.

‘It’s parallax, which is the observed displacement of an object caused by the change of the observer’s point of view. We see it all the time,’ said one commenter.

A pilot told Daily Mirror the stunt is an optical illusion – that involves two planes landing at the same time and the smaller one moving slower.

A passenger from another plane caught the moment that a separate aircraft was at floating in mid-air near the San Francisco International Airport

‘San Francisco has a procedure when the weather is adequate and both aircraft [sic] can see each other, they can land with less separation laterally than you’d normally need,’ the pilot told the outlet following a similar incident.

‘The aircraft is much lighter than the one where the passenger is filming, so it will be flying much slower – and there could be a strong headwind which means less movement over the ground too.’

Commenters thought otherwise about why the aircraft was hanging in mid-air.

‘No no glitch in the Matrix is the more rational explanation,’ a Reddit user commented.

‘No, I thinks [sic] it’s stopped in time guys, anyone see if it’s still stuck there,’ said another.

Locals to the area said that they have witnessed this spectacle time and time again.

‘As someone who lives it this area and drives on that bridge all the time, I’m sure hundreds or thousands of people on it would have stopped and recorded the plane just floating above them in mid air,’ said a commenter.

‘I live rite [sic] by a airport, they come in all the time going super slow like that. It looks impossible but it’s not,’ said another.

San Francisco locals commented under the video posted to Reddit of the plane hovering over the bridge and shared how this was a normal occurrence in that area Others commented and insisted that this was a ‘glitch in the Matrix’ or happened due to aliens and different supernatural phenomenon’s In 2013 San Francisco International Airport implemented new arrival procedures called Closely- Spaced Parallel Runways. In order to orchestrate this amazing site an airport must have two parallel runways separated by a small distance

San Francisco International Airport initiated new arrival procedures in the fall of 2013 called Closely- Spaced Parallel Runways.

‘This will allow staggered arrivals on parallel runways during poor weather conditions, further improving on-time performance at SFO. Arriving aircraft are separated by 1.5 nautical miles,’ SFO said on their website.

Visual flight rules are a set of guidelines that pilots follow in an aircraft, under clear weather conditions.

‘VFR flight is based on the principle of ‘see and avoid.’ The presumption made in establishing the basic VFR weather minimums is that aircraft flying at lower altitudes and/or in airspace with radar approach control and/or an operating control tower will be moving more slowly, or that they will be under positive control,’ said The Federal Aviation Administration.

When this happens, aircrafts do not need as much flight visibility or distance from clouds in order to avoid other air traffic.

A similar incident occurred in August as a passenger in another plane posted a video to Reddit of a United Airlines aircraft hovering just above land.

The passenger captioned the video: ‘Landing at SFO. What is happening here?’ They ended the caption with an alien emoji and a question mark.

The wing of the moving plane reveals a plane not too far away, completely still and hovering in the air with its wheels out.

‘UFO at SFO,’ said one commenter.

‘It’s a glitch in the matrix,’ said another.

Some commenters appeared to know exactly what was happening to the plane and went on to explain it.

‘It is an optical illusions [sic] caused by a shifting perceptual frame where one plane is moving at a moderate rate of speed, while simultaneously, the other plane is floating perfectly still in one spot in the air,’ said another.

Another said: ‘Tell me you have never had a duel [sic] landing at SFO before posting it on social media. They are famous for it [un]like any other airport in the country.’

Other US airports that have the appropriate facilities to conduct simultaneous take-offs and landings include Newark Liberty International Airport and Kansas City International Airport.

At Newark Airport United Airlines maintains their own operational hub to do so.

According to Simple Flying: ‘In fact, 23 different US airports can accommodate three aircraft approaching three runways simultaneously, some of which are rather small.’

In a similar incident, a passenger recorded from the inside of his plane window as the wing of the moving plane reveals a plane not too far away, completely still and hovering in the air with its wheels out A similar video posted to Reddit in August also caused a lot of speculation on why exactly the plane was hovering so low and close to land. Some blamed it on aliens and the Matrix, while others said it was a dual landing taking place

Other airports can accommodate more than three aircraft taking off at once, like Denver International Airport and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

‘Chicago-O’Hare International Airport (ORD) can even hypothetically permit six aircraft to land simultaneously, which would truly be a sight to behold,’ said Simple Flying.

Though this moment is rare, it is a beautiful phenomenon to witness from another aircraft.

It is unclear exactly where the floating plane was coming from or if there were passengers onboard.

Over the past few months, hundreds of self-driving cars have been spotted on the streets of the US’ San Francisco. Recently, a passenger shared a similar experience where he was picked up by a driverless car when he called for a Uber ride.

He shared a video of his experience, showing the view from the backseat of the car. Meanwhile, at the front, there is an empty driver’s seat with the steering wheel moving autonomously. Various prompts are displayed on a tablet fastened to the rear of the passenger’s seat. Further, voice prompts with instructions can also be heard playing inside the car.

The video’s caption reads, ”Getting a Uber in San Francisco be like…”

Watch the video here:

Getting a Uber in San Francisco be like…
by u/Osobady in Damnthatsinteresting

“Lol, when I was a teen, video calls were sci-fi stuff only seen in a few movies, and here we are with ‘automatic taxis’ feeling old,” wrote one user. Another joked, ”To unlock doors, please pay the release fee now.”

“Scary. No thank you,” a third said, while a fourth added, ”Objectively speaking, The human drivers are just as scary or worse.”

A few months back, tech billionaire Bill Gates took a ride in a self-driving car through downtown London and was convinced that autonomous vehicles (AV) are the future.

”The car drove us around downtown London, which is one of the most challenging driving environments imaginable, and it was a bit surreal to be in the car as it dodged all the traffic,” Mr. Gates wrote in a blog post describing his experience.

However, he noted that the transition to fully autonomous cars is probably decades away.

An Air Canada passenger’s cats were sent from Toronto to San Francisco without him.

He said Air Canada suggested he fly out to San Francisco to collect them himself.

                        Loading Something is loading.

Abbas Zoeb had checked in for his flight with Air Canada from Toronto to San Francisco on July 6 but his travel plans were scuppered after being denied boarding due to visa issues.

He had a bigger problem, however: his two cats, Mimi and Bubba, got sent to San Francisco anyway.

Zoeb told Insider Air Canada that “under no circumstances” would his cats fly without him, but his luggage might.

Yet after hours of waiting, he was then told the cats had indeed been sent to the US without him.

To make matters even worse, Zoeb said Air Canada then suggested he try to get to San Francisco himself, or ask someone in the city to collect the cats for him. “I said this is absurd and I don’t have anyone to collect them,” he said.

                          <img class="lazy-image " viewbox="0 0 1 1" data-content-type="image/jpeg" srcs="{"https://i.insider.com/62d7ed28f7ae6500183435ce":{"contentType":"image/jpeg","aspectRatioW":4,"aspectRatioH":3}}" alt="Abbas's cats, Mimi and Bubba, in a cargo kennel."/>

Abbas’s cats, Mimi and Bubba, were in a kennel for more than 15 hours.

Abbas Zoeb

Close to midnight and more than 15 hours after being separated from his pets, Zoeb was finally reunited with the two cats at Toronto airport.

“My pets were being treated like throwaway luggage and I was in anxiety all this time since no one could tell me where they were,” Zoeb said. “Once I collected my pets they were visibly tired and feeling sick. Both were sneezing.”

Air Canada is no longer allowing pets to be checked into the baggage compartments where Zoeb said his cats were placed, according to an update posted on the airline’s website. The airline cited “longer than usual airport delays” for the new rules that are in effect until September 12.

Passengers who want to fly with their pets must now take them on board as hand luggage or ship them via Air Canada Cargo, the update says. The airline confirmed the policy in an email to Insider.

“I am glad they won’t be taking pets in cargo anywhere because I don’t want any pet parent to go through what I did,” Zoeb added.

It is not the first time pets have got swept up in baggage chaos at Toronto Pearson airport.

Earlier this month, a dog was left “traumatized” after being left among lost luggage in Canada’s busiest airport for about 21 hours, Insider reported. The lost dog’s owner, Jena Butts, told CTV News that airport staff advised her to go home after her dog, Winston, did not arrive with her other bags.

Air Canada has faced a flurry of lost luggage complaints over the last month, with one passenger even accusing the airline of losing a bag containing her dead parents’ ashes.

An Air Canada ramp agent working at Toronto airport told Insider that this summer’s travel chaos was “hands down the worst” he’d seen in his six years working for the airline.

Air Canada told Insider: “The global air transport industry is currently challenged due to issues with airport capacity issues, airport-managed baggage systems and third-party providers of such services as passenger screening, customs, and air navigation. We are working hard with these partners and governments to resolve these issues as they are affecting the performance of airlines.”

“We’re almost double what we were in the last two years, and that’s a big problem,” Police Chief Bill Scott said in a mid-year report last month.

He added that robberies were going on in the city despite showing viral videos showing people brazenly shoplifting from stores in the city.

In an incident last month, 10 people were seen taking designer handbags from a Nieman Marcus in Union Square and leaving the scene in vehicles waiting for them outside.

TRUCKEE (CBS13) – A jet plane crashed while attempting to land right outside Truckee-Tahoe Airport, killing everyone on board.

The plane crashed on the Ponderosa Golf Course in Truckee. Officials say everyone on the floor is happy to be alive.

Investigators head to the scene while neighbors deal with the shock of what they saw

“It was something out of a nightmare,” said Jesse Quay, a Truckee resident.

The plane crashed through trees into Ponderosa Golf Course and then exploded on Quay’s front door. Everything was captured by a surveillance camera.

“We started hearing the plane and I said it was too low, obviously something is wrong,” said Quay. “It pruned a tree and exploded.”

The incident was understandably a shock to the neighbors – many of them saw the plane crash with their own eyes.

“The fireball was 60-70 feet tall,” Quay said. “That 70-foot ponderosa pine went up like a match.”

Officials tell us that no one was injured on the ground.

“It’s a miracle it didn’t hit a house,” said Truckee resident Rob Glaser

CONTINUE READING: Searching for missing Santa Rosa teen last seen near an ice rink

Local residents feared the crash could ignite wildfire.

“All I could see was black smoke, black smoke,” said Glaser. “The fire started moving in that direction.”

Within a few minutes, an emergency team on their way home from the nearby Tamarack Fire had the fire under control.

At the time of the crash, the weather was pretty calm, but the air was smoky.

Laura: Several forest fires are burning in the area. You can see smoke filling the sky. Did that play a role in this crash?

“At the moment it is still undetermined. There were no restrictions on visibility. The planes could see the airport and talk to our control tower, ”said Hardy Bullock, Gov. of Aviation and Community Services at Truckee-Tahoe Airport

Local officials tell us the plane circled the airport before it crashed. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.

The National Transportation Safety Board is responsible for this investigation. As of Monday evening, the agency had still not arrived at the crime scene.

This investigation will be on hold in terms of understanding why this plane crashed, how many people died, and who they were.
