But I was stuck with $200 worth of paint. So I decided to just paint my whole damn house. I did a giant mural going down my entire hallway, down the stairwell, my cabinet and wall trim, my ceilings, I was just like, I’m getting rid of this paint. That quickly changed my house to be colorful and bright.”

“It was very much art therapy,” she said. “And it made me feel better. I had always wanted to make my space my own, but I just couldn’t. This was the first time where I was like, I have a canvas, I can do whatever I want!”

Slowly, she turned her home into a work of art. “When my friends saw my house, they told me to post it online, and I said, ‘This is crazy, I’m way too old for TikTok!’”

But during a slow period at work, she decided to try it. She cut two shots into a simple video, showcasing a bedroom window surrounded by a DIY greenery wall, and posted it to TikTok. Within one day, it had a million views.

The greenery wall that started it all, via her Instagram.

“It just went viral, my very first video!” she exclaimed. “I had no idea that was special!
So she continued creating videos, documenting her painting, sharing renter-friendly decorating hacks, and making response videos to some of the crazier comments. “Boomers call it a tacky preschool aesthetic,” she said. “People think it’s young, but I just think it’s fun!”

She says she doesn’t read her comments anymore, since some are quite toxic, especially on TikTok. “I can’t believe people get upset about how other people decorate their homes. But rather than look for another job, she decided to lean into content creation. She parlayed her internet fame into a new career as an interior decorator, taking on projects for open-minded clients that give her free creative rein, doing brand partnerships, and creating her own wallpaper designs.

JOPLIN, Mo. — During the warmer months, the chimney becomes a neglected feature in our homes. Cleaning it properly is one of the main steps in preparing a chimney for winter and can be part of your seasonal cleaning checklist in addition to cleaning your fireplace.

Throughout the year, chimneys require maintenance and upkeep. With the weather continuously proving to be unpredictable, your chimney should be cleaned and prepped for the cold in case of any sudden changes in temperature. However, if you’ve waited until now to start looking for a professional chimney sweep — Victor Ferguson, manager of The Fireplace Shop in Joplin — says you may have to wait a while, as they’re currently booked up until after the new year.

“We start contacting people on our list — beginning early in the spring — to go ahead and get the chimney sweep and get that task out of the way during the spring and summer months, so that they’re ready to light fires in their fireplaces whenever it does finally turn cold. But if you’ve waited until now to call a professional, you’ll likely find that it’s too late,” said Ferguson.

Ferguson says fireplace chimneys should be cleaned at least once a year due to the build of creosote. Creosote is a highly flammable substance that builds up inside your chimney or liner as a result of burning wood. The rate of accumulation can be higher if you have poor burning practices, or have a burning appliance or stove that is not working well. Different types of wood create different amounts of creosote when burned.

“The job of the chimney sweep is to remove soot and built-up creosote from your chimney. This cleaning will help create a safer operation of your fireplace. It only takes a small accumulation of creosote glazing to create the potential for a chimney fire,” said Ferguson.

Redings Mill Fire Protection District Chief, Steve Coats, says his firefighters respond to several chimney fires each winter. Most of those, he claims, could have been prevented with proper cleaning and maintenance.

“It’s nothing for us to respond to 10 to 15 chimney fires, and some of those spread beyond the chimney, where it damages the home. Whenever we go to those fires. It’s always said, ‘well I can’t afford it to have it cleaned,’ or, ‘I can’t afford to have somebody come look at it.’ But being without a home in the winter or just without a home at all is far more expensive than it would be to have someone come out to clean and inspect your fireplace. Not only are they looking for build up of creosote in the chimney, but they’re also looking to make sure all the components are intact and not exposed to bare wood or insulation in the attic,” said Fire Chief Coats.

| Oklahoma Has The Largest Bed Bug Problem In U.S., Study Says >

There are a few ways to clean the chimney yourself, however it does require the purchase of special tools from a local hardware store to get the job done. For determined DIYers, keep mind that sweeping the chimney is a messy and potentially dangerous job.

“Most people aren’t aware of everything they need to look for when it comes to cleaning the chimney and fireplace. It’s also very important to inspect your entire system to ensure everything is in good, working order. Waiting until the weather turns cold is really too late — that’s why we recommend you have it inspected long before winter approaches,” said Ferguson.

“We try to tell people not to burn wood if the fireplace and chimney aren’t property maintained. It’s just too big of a risk,” said Fire Chief Coats.

Forget the twinkle of big city lights — Gen Zers are moving to a home on the range.

The youngest generation of adults is moving to the Great Plains and mountain West to seek out lower costs and “simpler liver,” data from StorageCafe and LendingTree found.

In 2021, Gen Z made up the biggest percentages of people moving to South Dakota (16%), North Dakota (15%), Idaho (15%), Iowa (14%) and Kansas (14%), whether it be to rent or buy, according to StorageCafe data obtained by Insider.

When looking to settle down and buy a home, the generation of young adults (average age 22) was most interested in taking out a mortgage in Salt Lake City (22.59%), followed by Oklahoma City (22.36%) and Birmingham, Alabama (20.79%), LendingTree reported.

“Gen Zers are increasingly drawn to simpler living in their housing choices,” Emilia Mann, a senior analyst at StorageCafe, told Insider.

“Unlike millennials, who often gravitate to DC, Washington [state] and Illinois, Gen Zers tend to favor states with lower population density, from the mountainous terrains of Montana and Idaho to the plains of Kansas and Nebraska.”

Gen Z adults are moving to the Great Plains and mountain West — including states like Idaho, above — to seek out lower costs and “simpler liver,” data from StorageCafe and LendingTree found. Getty Images/iStockphoto

Gen Z made up the biggest percentages of people moving to South Dakota (16%), North Dakota (15%), Idaho (15%), Iowa (14%) and Kansas (14%), whether it be to rent or buy, according to new data.Getty Images/iStockphoto

Looking at absolute numbers, StorageCafe found that the three states with the largest total populations saw the most Gen Z newcomers, including Texas (360,374), California (256,587) and Florida (175,889), and the Great Plains and Mountain West regions saw a bigger percentage of the young new residents.

“While the numbers might be smaller in less-populated states, the proportion of Gen Z newcomers from the total incoming population is significant,” Mann explained to the Daily Mail.

“Apart from the natural beauty, [the Great Plains and Mountain West regions] also have strong economies anchored in energy production, manufacturing and technology,” she added.

When looking to settle down and buy a home, the generation of young adults was most interested in taking out a mortgage in Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City and Birmingham, Alabama, LendingTree reported.Getty Images

Mann noted that, in addition to those regions, Gen Zers are also “gravitating towards Southern states, drawn by affordable homes, promising job opportunities and active lifestyles.”

Meanwhile, they had the least amount of interest in buying a home in San Francisco, New York and San Jose, California, according to LendingTree.

“The increased inclination toward remote work has become a significant factor in shaping current housing preferences,” Doug Ressler, business intelligence manager at Yardi Matrix, said to StorageCafe.

“For those spending more time at home, amenities such as a dedicated home office and a larger yard are increasingly desirable, which oftentimes means relocating farther away from busy urban hotspots.”

Remote work and inflation have Gen Zers ditching big-city dreams and moving to smaller towns to begin their adult lives. Getty Images/iStockphoto

While some Gen Zers are moving out West, many young adults are still living at home.

A recent Pew Research Center study found that one-quarter of U.S. adults ages 25 to 34 were living in a multigenerational family household in 2021. But by comparison, in 1971, just 9% of adults of the same age were living in a multigenerational home, while in 2011, roughly 20% were.

“I’m just trying to save up more money so that I can be comfortable when I move out and fully support myself like 100%,” Nada Torbica, a 22-year-old from Boca Raton, Fla., told The Post last year.

Francisco Garcia used to commute to Los Angeles daily for his job as a supervisor of a janitorial and maintenance department, which required him to be on his feet for hours. But all of that changed when he fell ill with COVID-19 in 2020.

The illness left Garcia in a coma for three weeks and in various hospitals in the Coachella Valley and San Diego for three months. One of his lungs was collapsed, which had him hooked up to a ventilator, and doctors were worried about him possibly having a heart attack as well.

The 53-year-old still gets emotional remembering that difficult time, which included his wife having to decide whether to keep him on medical support. Once his health was on the mend, it took time for his strength to return, recalling it would take three people about 45 minutes to help him sit up in his hospital bed.

“It’s not easy to remember,” he said. “There were very hard moments, very hard days in the hospital. … I don’t wish it upon anyone.”

After he was discharged, the Desert Hot Springs resident was referred to cardiologist/electrophysiologist Dr. Hetal Bhakta at Desert Heart Rhythm Consultants, who recommended he start a nutrition-focused program through Nudj Health. The Pasadena-based company aims to deliver whole-person and continuous care for patients with chronic disease by targeting six lifestyle areas: nutrition, stress management, physical activity, sleep, social support and risky behaviors.

Garcia said he would often feel dizzy, get headaches and experience stomach pains from eating in the past. Since starting the program, he has learned how to balance his meals so that there’s proteins, grains, fruits and vegetables incorporated into each meal, and he has focused on eating fewer sweets. He said he feels “very, very strong” and that he lost nearly 10 pounds.

“I’m very lucky. This program helped me a lot — a lot, a lot,” Garcia said.

Change in lifestyle

Prior to Nudj Health’s founding, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Katie Hill said many of its founders worked for a cardiology company. They could tell how engaged a patient would be in their treatment based on what was going on in their lives. So, if a patient was experiencing a lot of stress, depression or anxiety, Hill said they were less likely to participate.

As a result, they formed Nudj Health with the aim of focusing on mental and behavioral health to help improve cardiovascular disease outcomes as well.

“We help people find behavioral changes they can make in a sustainable way in their own lives that fits with their own cultural history, family traditions, likes and dislikes to move them toward greater health,” Hill said.

Nudj Health’s treatment is based on the collaborative care model, which is described as a patient-centered, team-based approach to managing chronic medical and mental health conditions. The six treatment pathways address the American College of Lifestyle Medicine’s essential pillars to improve and maintain cardiovascular health.

Nudj Health partners with referring physicians and essentially acts as an extension of their clinic. Care managers work with patients, via telephone or video visits, to better understand their circumstances, tailor pathways to their lifestyles and monitor their progress.

Patients tackle one of the lifestyle areas at a time at their physician’s recommendation. Each program is individualized, but generally the nutrition pathway is focused on building sustainable and healthy eating habits that gradually move toward a more plant-based and whole-foods diet, while the fitness pathway focuses on a mix of strength training, balance training and aerobic activities, according to the company.

It takes about 12 weeks to complete a program. Hill said they are typically covered by insurance, especially if recommended by a health care provider.

More than 6,000 patients have taken part of Nudj Health’s programs since its founding in 2021, according to the company. Data from a Medicaid cohort enrolled between August to November 2022 showed reductions in blood pressures and improvements in measures of depression, anxiety and insomnia. For example, patients with high blood pressure (greater than 140/90 mm Hg) who were enrolled in remote patient monitoring, which has them closely monitor physical and objective signs of cardiovascular disease, experienced a mean decrease in systolic blood pressure of 1.32 mm Hg and a mean diastolic blood pressure decrease of 0.58 mm Hg per month.

Those who participated in a lifestyle pathway on top of remote patient monitoring saw their systolic blood pressure decrease by 6.98 mm Hg and diastolic blood pressure decrease by 3.87 mm Hg.

In general, making positive changes to lifestyle habits have led to better health for a number of people. Getting enough quality sleep can reduce the risk of many diseases and disorders, from heart disease and stroke to obesity and dementia. Exercise and physical activity, which doctors encourage all able patients to do, can improve brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to do everyday activities.

Social connectedness can also improve mental health, and those with stronger social bonds have a 50% increased likelihood of survival than those who have fewer social connections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“By taking good care of those six pillars … you will have a healthy life,” she said.

Bad habits and psychosocial factors often contribute to medical conditions and can worsen them, Bhakta said, but some patients might not truly consider how much they’re impacting them. He was interested in partnering with Nudj Health when he realized its pathways could help them address their health issues beyond medical care.

You can do a bypass surgery and fix the plumbing, but can we prevent that thing from being necessary in the first place? That starts with managing blood pressure, weight, sugar and a lot of those are rooted in our behaviors and habits,” Bhakta said. “If we start correcting those early on, then you don’t need the more aggressive things.”

When he first met Garcia, Bhakta said he was experiencing chest pain, which turned out to be atypical. But the more time he spent with his patient, the more he learned about Garcia’s underlying issues with blood pressure and post-traumatic stress disorder that was related to his COVID-19 diagnosis.

Bhakta recommended the nutrition pathway for Garcia because “that was the root of a lot of his issues,” he said. Since then, Bhakta said Garcia’s blood pressure is “much better controlled.” He added that Garcia would have also benefited from the stress management pathway.

Garcia said his quality of life “better now” since he’s participated in the program, and he’s even taken additional classes to learn more about nutrition and healthy changes he can continue to make.

“It’s something I would recommend to everyone, not only people like me that are sick,” Garcia said. “We need more programs like this.”

How to get connected

If a patient wants to join Nudj Health, they can email info@nudjhealth.com. The company will either connect them with a local participating doctor or explain other options for participation.

LOS ANGELES — Rain and snow battered huge swathes of California on Friday, forcing statewide highway closures and a major dam to open its spillway for the first time in nearly four years.

About 9,000 people were under evacuation orders in the state, said Nancy Ward, director of the California Office of Emergency Services.

In Tulare County, evacuation orders have been issued for parts of the small community of Springville and the city of Exeter due to flooding and swollen waterways, the sheriff’s office said. Evacuation warnings were issued along the Tule River in Porterville of 62,000 people.

President Joe Biden on Friday approved an emergency motion from Gov. Gavin Newsom, triggering federal assistance to state “tribal and local response efforts” caused by ongoing “severe winter storms, flooding, landslides and mudslides,” the White House said.

“We’ve been here about 20 years and really haven’t seen anything of this magnitude,” said Eric Diekmann of Soquel in Santa Cruz County, whose home is across a washed-out road.

Even after Friday night’s flood concerns taper off, more bad weather is in store for the weekend and the coming days, National Weather Service forecaster David Lawrence said.

John Bays clears snow from his driveway on March 8, 2023 after a series of storms in Lake Arrowhead, California.Marcio Jose Sanchez / AP

“We will see more rounds of rain and heavy mountain snow throughout much of northern and central California throughout the weekend,” Lawrence told reporters at OES headquarters in the Sacramento suburb of Mather. “And we’ll also likely see that weather pattern continue as we head into at least the first half of next week.”

Weeks of incessant snowfall have kept the state transportation agency busy clearing roads of 45 million cubic yards of snow over the past month, enough to “fill more than 100 rose bowls,” said California Department of Transportation assistant director Mike Keever.

Recent storms prompted the state to release water from the main spillway at Lake Oroville on Friday noon, with snowmelt likely to continue to raise lake levels in the coming months.

This is only the second time water has been released from the rebuilt spillway, following the 2017 disaster that turned life upside down around Gold Country and forced the evacuation of more than 180,000 people.

Some of California’s most famous and busiest roads were temporarily closed Friday due to flooding.

A portion of Monterey County’s Scenic Highway 1 has been closed due to falling rocks, water and debris.

U.S. Highway 101 southbound near Gilroy State’s Garlic Center could not be used.

Interstate 580, a major highway through San Francisco’s East Bay, finally reopened around noon.

Main Street in Soquel, a Santa Cruz County community of about 9,900, was washed away. Evacuation orders were issued in Kernville, northeast of Bakersfield, due to flooding in the Kern River.

State authorities have warned California residents that lots of running water can be dangerous.

As little as 6 inches of flowing water can easily knock a person off their feet, while one foot of water has the power to sweep a car away, the San Luis Obispo Office of Emergency Services warned Central Coast residents Friday.

“Remember, don’t walk, swim or drive through flood waters and avoid unnecessary travel today,” the agency said.

Transportation Department officials urged residents of the state to check their weather before going outside.

The department warned drivers to “be prepared for delays and pack extra food, water, blankets and other essentials, and pack cell phone chargers.”

The heaviest rain had pulled out of northern California by Friday afternoon, but not before dumping about 3 to 4 inches of rain in parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service.

Flood watches were in place for San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties through 4 a.m. Saturday, but the National Weather Service in Oxnard said Friday night the heavy rain had stopped and the water was beginning to recede.

More than 10 inches of rain fell in Rocky Butte in San Luis Obispo County through 10 p.m., the weather service said, although other areas were lower. More than 5 inches of rain fell in the village of Cambria, where evacuation orders had been issued for some residents but were later lifted.

In Paso Robles, Chimney Rock Road was washed away. A spokesman for the San Luis Obispo County said they had had road problems and temporary fixes since January, but these failed as of Friday morning.

Fresno County first responders rescued, including three women, two in their 80s and one in 104, who were trapped in their home after a culvert was washed out, Sheriff John Zanoni said Friday.

Difficult weather conditions will also bring heavy snow to parts of the northern plains on Friday and parts of the upper Mississippi Valley on Saturday.

Rain is also expected to develop over parts of the middle Mississippi Valley and snowfall is expected to make its way to the Great Lakes by Sunday.

A storm system threw snow and rain across the Great Lakes of the Northeast and Southeast on Friday, with totals of 12 inches in Mequon, Wisconsin, 10 inches in Milwaukee, 9 inches in Woodstock, Illinois and 4 inches around Detroit.

Rain and snow showers will continue to move from the eastern Great Lakes through the mid-Atlantic region.

Western New York and Northeast Pennsylvania could get between 4 inches and 8 inches of snow.

He soon founded a nonprofit social network for entrepreneurs called Mesto — the Russian word for place — hoping to boost the start-up market in Russia and other parts of the former Soviet Union. As he launched a new start-up of his own, Duplicat, which aimed to identify fraud in the market for nonfungible tokens, he contracted with a team of artificial intelligence engineers spread across Russia.

He also invested in several Ukrainian start-ups. One of them was Reface, an AI company recommended by Mr. Podolianko. Last summer, as they met with other companies and colleagues in Kyiv, the two of them attended a boat party whose hosts were a group of Ukrainian technologists and investors. Mr. Podolyanko brought his girlfriend, a Ukrainian financial analyst named Stacy Antipova.

Russia-Ukraine War: Key Developments

Cards 1 of 4

Russia’s punishment of Finland. Russia cut off its natural gas supplies to Finland on May 21, according to Finland’s state energy provider. Russia said that it was suspending the supply because Finland had failed to comply with its demand to make payments in rubles. Finland has also submitted an application to join NATO, approaching Russia.

It was a trip they now look back on with rueful affection. Russia invaded six months later.

After the invasion, Ms. Antipova fled Ukraine and flew to Tijuana, Mexico, where she could cross into the United States as a refugee. She now lives at DobryDom. “When I went down for breakfast the first time,” Mr. Doronichev remembered, “I did not know what to say.”

Sitting in the backyard alongside her new housemates on a recent afternoon, Ms. Antipova was also unsure what to say. “I didn’t plan to move so far away so soon,” she said. “I am just trying to fix my life, to understand what I want to do, because I left the rest of my life behind.”

Across the table, Dasha Kroshkina, another Russian-born entrepreneur, explained that she was working to move employees out of both Russia and Ukraine and scrambling to restart her company’s service, StudyFree, in Africa and India. When the war began, many of its customers — students looking for scholarships and grants at universities abroad — were in Russia.

“We all feel trauma,” said Mikita Mikado, another DobryDom housemate, who immigrated from Belarus. “But the trauma is different for each one of us.”

Mr. Mikado and Mr. Doronichev are now working to move their own employees out of Russia and into European and Asian countries accepting Russian citizens without visas, but not all are willing or able to leave. The two entrepreneurs will cut ties with anyone who stays.

St. John’s, Newfoundland–(Newsfile Corp. – March 14, 2022) – Environmentally friendly and socially responsible technologies have become important differentiators in business, while adhering to governance norms. Atlantic Standard (HVAC) is a licensed heating and air conditioning company who has taken the initiative of reducing Canada’s carbon footprint through energy-conserving heating and cooling solutions to provide greater impact for Canadian communities for the last two years.

Using a sustainable business model, the company creates, delivers, and captures value for all stakeholders without depleting natural, economic, and social capital. Atlantic Standard has established partnerships with leading energy manufacturers and retailers whose core products focus on environment first compliance. The partnerships include retailers such as LG, paving the newest way to conserve energy with solutions like the LG ThinQ, a heating and cooling solution which is eligible for Canada’s Greener Homes Grant and is also ENERGY STAR® certified integrating AI advanced technology.

The company additionally teamed up with another local green-tech company making big leaps across the globe, Mysa (Smart Thermostats), to offer free smart thermostats to customers who purchase a heat pump through them. This has led to the advent of alternative strategies that have been able to reduce customers’ bills and enable them to have more money while also enabling them to contribute back to energy conservation.

In addition to eco-friendly objectives, greater social impact initiatives have been expanding in tandem. In collaboration with local community programs, the company also offers supporting programs, systems, and opportunities focused on providing individualized support to young people, celebrating their unique characteristics, and ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed in the world. Due to this, they are committed to supporting organizations that help the next generation thrive and help make a real difference in the lives of our most vulnerable adolescents. It has also made successful adaptations to changing environments and management as a source of durability and sustainability.

Story continues

In addition to offering in-house financing for its solutions, Atlantic Standard offers its customers an Air Miles Reward Program, which enables customers to earn and redeem miles for travel and merchandise at local retailers, thereby contributing to green initiatives.

Atlantic Standard HVAC is excited about the future in becoming a global leader in innovation while having a focus on an eco-friendly planet.

SAN MATEO (KPIX 5) – A transition to zero-emission vehicles nationwide would have a major impact on air quality and the health of residents in the Bay Area and across California, according to the American Lung Association’s “Zeroing in on Healthy Air” report .

The report is based upon the idea that all new passenger vehicles sold by 2035 are zero-emission, and all new trucks and buses sold by 2040 are zero-emission.

READ MORE: Livermore Residents Seek Answers From PG&E After Power Surge Damages Electronics In Over 500 Homes

The ALA’s findings reveal California would see $169 billion in public health benefits, and a change would result in up to 15,300 deaths.

“In the San Francisco Bay Area, we see over $40 billion in public health benefits by 2050 through this transition. That comes out to about 3,800 lives saved, over 100,000 asthma attacks avoided, and over 500,000 lost workdays avoided because the air would be cleaner in the Bay Area,” said Will Barrett, the ALA’s National Senior Director for Clean Air Advocacy.

Nationally, the transition would generate more than $1.2 trillion in health benefits and $1.7 trillion in climate benefits by 2050.

Barrett explained the study focused on the public health benefits of getting off of fossil fuels.

“There are thousands and thousands of premature deaths every year in California due to air pollution,” Barrett told KPIX 5. “There’s a wide range of negative health consequences associated with unhealthy air. It’s everything from minor irritation – like coughing and wheezing – to more serious health emergencies, like asthma attacks, heart attacks, and strokes. Breathing in particle pollution can cause lung cancer.”

Amy Primus, who owns an electric vehicle, thinks the American Lung Association’s report is just one more reason to make the switch to electric.

READ MORE: Warriors Drop 4th Straight, Unable To Hold Off Suns In Wild Finish

“We should become electric with all vehicles and trucks because it’ll make a huge difference in air quality, standard of life, and all of that,” she said.

The Zero Emission Transportation Association issued the following statement to KPIX 5 in response to the ALA’s report:

“Fossil fuel-powered transportation is dangerous, causing thousands of illnesses and deaths each year. Luckily, there is a healthier way for us to go about our daily lives. The American Lung Association’s new “Zeroing in on Healthy Air” report proves that point. If we transition to electric vehicles powered by clean electricity, we could save 110,000 lives over the next thirty years. We could also avoid $1.2 trillion in public health costs and more than $1.7 trillion in environmental costs.

Importantly, because we know that the burden of breathing unhealthy air is not shared equally among people, this report also investigated the 100 US counties with the highest percentages of people of color. Despite representing just 3% of US counties, these counties could experience approximately 13% of the benefits of electrification—or $155 billion in avoided health and environmental damages.

The benefits of electrifying the transportation sector are unequivocal and vast. With more than 100,000 lives and trillions of dollars on the line, Congress must act now to pass President Biden’s clean energy agenda. This plan will jumpstart electric vehicle adoption in the US by driving down consumer prices, expanding the EV charging network, and electrifying our high-polluting heavy-duty fleets.”

Barrett said there’s a long way to go over the next few decades, but the process will have a major impact on air quality and public health as it unfolds.

“We know there’s a long way to go, but we also know there’s active policy action right now,” he said.

MORE NEWS: Sharks Give Up 3 Late Goals In Loss To Coyotes

Under an executive order by Gov. Gavin Newsom, California will halt sales of new gas-powered cars and passenger trucks by 2035.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park is home to the world’s oldest living aquarium fish.

The name of the lungfish is Methuselah, which comes from the Bible.

Methusalah was Noah’s grandfather and lived 969 years.

This Methusalah is considered “she” and is at least 90 years old.

The academy will send a tiny sample of their fin to researchers in Australia who will try to find out its exact age.

“She’s basically just a big pooch,” said aquarium curator Charles Delbeek.

“She’s very gentle, she moves very slowly, but if you want to move quickly, you can. You can jump out of this tank and that’s why we have a guard around it, ”he explained.

Methusalah weighs about 24 pounds.

Perhaps a more mature palate comes with their age? She enjoys figs, but only fresh, not frozen and thawed.

The series was given a writers’ room in August 2021 in the hope that anything the writers could come up with could go straight into a series order. That was the case here too, and “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches” received an eight-episode commission for its first season. The series is the second in an expanded Anne Rice universe, as the series “Vampire Chronicles” received the green light in June 2021 and had its protagonist, the vampire Lestat, occupied by August.

The series was written by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, best known for their work on the Showtime drama “Masters of Sex”. Spalding will act as the show runner for the series under her overall contract with AMC Studios.

Spalding and Ashford shared their excitement with Deadline, explaining their solidarity with the franchise:

“The world of witches has fascinated and terrified for centuries, and yet Anne Rice’s particular focus on witches has explored something entirely new – women who are powerful, often brutal, and always determined to undermine our current power structures. We are very excited to be helping our partners AMC and Gran Via Productions to bring this mysterious and provocative world to life. ”

The women in Rice’s world are indeed wild creatures, whether they are witches, vampires, or common people caught up in supernatural nonsense. Hopefully the series will be good enough to be an adaptation of Rice’s seventh “Vampire Chronicles” book, “Merrick,” which follows a forgotten daughter of the Mayfair witches who falls in love with the eternal vampire sad boy Louis de Pointe du Lac. Louis is the narrator of Interview with the Vampire and is played by Brad Pitt in the 1994 film adaptation. Their romance is truly one of star-crossed lovers destined for tragedy.

“The Vampire Chronicles” should appear at the end of 2022, shortly afterwards “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches” should follow.
