The California-based HVAC company expands into Bay Area North with a new location in Sonoma County

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 4, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Rooter Hero Plumbing & Air, a plumbing and HVAC company serving residential and commercial locations in California and Arizona, has opened a new location in the metro San Francisco area, expanding its reach into the Bay Area.

Rooter Hero expands into Bay Area North with a new location in Rohnert Park that will serve both Sonoma and Marin counties.

“We are excited to bring the Rooter Hero brand into the Bay Area North region,” said Rooter Hero co-founder and CEO John Akhoian. This location will help us provide the residents in Sonoma and Marin counties with the top-level plumbing services Rooter Hero has become known for. We are grateful that our California family provides continued support so that we can continue to grow.”

The new office is located at 5772 Commerce Blvd, Rohnert Park, CA 94928 and offers a wide range of plumbing services. General Manager Patrick Fee said the location will phase in HVAC services beginning sometime toward the end of 2023. Fee runs the Bay Area North location along with David Lyons, who serves as the office’s local service manager.

“John Akhoian’s leadership and innovation continues to make Rooter Hero one of the best home service companies in California,” Fee said. “Without the support of the entire Rooter Hero leadership team, we wouldn’t see the kinds of successes in expansion that we are experiencing. We are looking forward to building a relationship with the residents in the Bay Area North service area.”

Since 2011, Rooter Hero has offered plumbing services to residents throughout California. By 2019, with the purchase of four locations in the Phoenix, Arizona, area and another location in San Jose, California, earlier this year, the company has branched out into the heating and air conditioning markets.

“With the success of our Phoenix and San Jose area locations, we’re certain we’ll be able to provide the plumbing and HVAC services the people in the north Bay Area need,” Akohian said. “Patrick and David have demonstrated their abilities to deliver the dedication and service record needed for this location to achieve its goals. We will be cheering on their victories.”

Expanding the Rooter Hero HVAC services brand throughout all of Los Angeles has been a priority for the home services company and they have now met this goal.

Charlie Walker, who was the subject of a recent film starring Luke Cage‘s Mike Colter, has died at 89 years old.

In the 1960s, Walker led protests to open public construction jobs to Black contractors who were being excluded and deliberately discriminated and passed over for white truckers and white-dominated unions.

He later became one of the most successful truckers in the United States and was well-revered for cleaning up the San Francisco Bay after an oil spill in the early ’70s.

“Charlie Walker was a true original. Cut from the same cloth as men like my own father and uncles,” said Colter. Men from the seventies era that took opportunity by the horns. Charlie was unapologetic about his ambition and desire to carve out a place in the world. He made a way for his family and set an example for generations to come. He was a character that moved through the world with a certainty and swagger that made people take notice. He deserved to have his story told. It was an honor to portray him. He will never be forgotten. My condolences to his family and loved ones. May he rest in eternal peace”

I’m Charlie Walker producer Mike Regan said, “On behalf of our Executive Producer Bill O’Keeffe and our entire cast and crew we are all devastated by Charlie’s passing, but at the same time we are here to celebrate his amazing life.  Our thoughts are with his beautiful wife Annette, his entire family and his beloved community of Bayview Hunters Point San Francisco.  We could go on and on about Charlie’s accomplishments and the impact he had on so many, but we also know Charlie would tell us to get back to work. And that is exactly what we will do to continue to honor his legacy and amazing life”

“Like many, I was honored and privileged to spend a lot of time with Charlie, as he regaled in stories and wisdom,” said I’m Charlie Walker director Patrick Gilles. “He will be missed but certainly not forgotten.”

In 2022, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors passed a resolution to honor Walker by naming a street in Bayview Hunters Point as “Charlie Way.”

Walker is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annette Walker, his daughters, Charlette Carnegia and Ruedell Walker, his son, Charles Walker Jr, his 11 grandchildren, which includes his eldest grandchild, Geoffrea Morris, whom he assisted in raising, and his 13, great-grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews and community friends.

The Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop at Disney California Adventure is “moving” from Pacific Wharf to San Fransokyo Square, and in preparation, the iconic animated mural behind the serving area has been changed to focus on the fictional “Big Hero 6” city rather than the famous brand’s true home, San Francisco.

Ghirardelli San Francisco mural

From a distance you might not even see that a change has been made, but if you look closer, things are different.

Effects take place on the 3D mural. The tram runs, lights go on and off, and an “earthquake” shakes the mural. The Ghirardelli Building appears to be falling apart, although the original survived the 1906 earthquake with minimal damage.

Check out the earthquake effect below.

A fish-shaped wind turbine straight out of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film flies high above the landscape (including Ghirardelli Square, now complete with Japanese characters on the signage), with the Ghiradelli logo printed on its side. Rita’s turbine mixers are topped with a giant, dimensional prop that also resembles these.

Compare these photos to the old version, pictured below, from the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop’s opening in 2012 (when the world-famous Hot Fudge Sundae was only $8.25 instead of $15.75).

The houses across the street now resemble those from the film and combine Japanese and American influences from the two famous metropolises.

The San Francisco Gate Bridge replaces the Golden Gate Bridge while we await the completion of the real bridge just steps away.

The float is now owned by the City of San Fransokyo and is adorned with new signs and lanterns.

Lanterns with the letters “SFS” line the streets to represent San Fransokyo Square, as well as red lanterns.

Even some minor details, like half-hidden posters and a removed shopping cart, have been updated.

Even a skyscraper in the background was not safe from the changes.

Japanese characters are printed on various sections of the design.

Cherry blossoms adorn the upper center portion of the background. In Japanese culture, cherry blossoms are particularly symbolic, representing human life, beauty, and more.

The Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop is open daily and is located in what is now Pacific Wharf at Disney California Adventure. It will be part of San Fransokyo Square when it officially opens to guests on August 31, 2023, but has also promised to introduce some new menu items inspired by the new theme. Details on the new items have yet to be released.

Pacific Wharf becomes San Fransokyo Square

Pacific Wharf’s main entrance bridge is currently closed for the installation of the torii gate towers as it is being converted to the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge.

. The port of San Fransokyo Cervecería is also officially opened. Additional dining and shopping options will be available in the weeks that follow until mid-August, when the remodeling is expected to be complete.

Venues from the Cappuccino Cart to the Bakery Tour will also be decked out with street art and colorful banners in celebration of the Big Hero 6 team.

Guests can interact with Hiro and Baymax (who talk!) in front of the Hamada Bot Shop.

Near the Hamada Bot Shop is the San Fransokyo Maker’s Market, a store featuring unique clothing, home goods and more from Baymax and friends. As can be seen in the concept art above, the shelves of the market stand on top of robot storage boxes displaying decommissioned combat robots. Hiro’s Megabot will be up in the rafters.

Opposite the Maker’s Market, vending machines will feature gold medallions with Baymax motifs and other San Fransokyo images.

Dining options include current Pacific Wharf venues and new options inspired by Asian cuisine and Big Hero 6.

The second bakery café run by Hiro’s loving aunt, Aunt Cass Café serves soups in freshly baked Boudin sourdough bread bowls and more inspired by Japanese cuisine. On the outside of this fast food restaurant you’ll find a mural of Aunt Cass’ happy house cat, Mochi.
