San Francisco 49ers star pass rusher and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa made his way back to the Bay Area late Wednesday night.

Bosa’s presence in Northern California came hours after he inked a record-breaking contract with San Francisco following a lengthy holdout.

“Hey faithful. I’m back, baby. Sorry for the scare, Bosa told those on hand as he landed in the Bay Area. “Let’s go win some games.”

The former No. 2 pick is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history at $34 million per season. Bosa’s deal comes out to $170 million over five years with $122.5 million in total guarantees.

For both the star pass rusher and the organization, this ends what were extensive negotiations heading into Sunday’s season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s now likely to suit up in just a few days.

“I mean, there is some question because we haven’t seen him,” 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters when asked if Bosa would suit up on Sunday. “But I think you guys know how I’m talking. He’d have to have a beer belly and be out of shape or something, which that’s not in Bosa’s DNA.”

It’s not yet known how many snaps Bosa will take when San Francisco opens its regular season on the road. But Wednesday’s news was about a lot more than one game or the short-term. It was more about getting one of the best NFL players locked up for five years and moving on with the drama of the past several weeks.

San Francisco 49ers Take Care Of Offseason Priority With Nick Bosa Contract

That has to be considered the biggest takeaway here. Both Bosa and the 49ers’ brass had expressed confidence throughout the offseason that he’d be locked up before Week 1.

“It’s pretty high. I think I am pretty confident about that. I think I’ll get what I deserve,” Bosa told reporters back in in June about his confidence level that a new deal would get done soon.

The 49ers knew they had to back up that proverbial Brinks Truck for Bosa ahead of Week 1. It was going to be a complicated contract. There were a lot more factors involved than total value or average annual salary. Contract length, fully guaranteed cash and total guarantees were three factors the sides had to work through.

Bosa’s importance to the 49ers can’t be overstated. Last season saw the former Ohio State star rack up 48 quarterback hits, 19 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks. Not a single returning member of the 49ers outside of Bosa had more than three sacks a season ago. Again, his importance has been on display during the star’s four-year in run in Santa Clara.

Finances Of The Nick Bosa Contract And What It Means

San Francisco 49ers paying out big bucks. (Photo by Michael Zagaris/San Francisco 49ers/Getty Images)Getty Images

The full details of Bosa’s extension are not yet known. That is to say, fully guaranteed cash and yearly salary cap break down.

What we do know is that Bosa’s $34 million annual salary makes him the highest-paid defender in NFL history, just over $2 million more than Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald. His $122.5 million in practical guarantees ranks a whopping $22.5 million more than the second highest-paid defender, Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett.

Practical guarantees are just an industry way of saying cash that is guaranteed for injury only. Once the fully guaranteed total comes out, we’ll know more about the overall structure of Bosa’s contract.

The structure is going to be important when it comes to San Francisco’s long-term salary cap health. By virtue of frontloading other massive deals in the past, a lot will have to be done following the 2023 campaign.

In addition to Bosa, the 49ers now have six players who are all among the highest-paid at their respective positions on a per-year basis in the NFL. Of that group, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Trent Williams and Fred Warner are set to count a combined $92-plus million against the cap in 2024. Three other players — Deebo Samuel, Arik Armstead and Charvarius Ward — have combined cap hits of $73-plus million. That’s $165 million allocated to seven players.

We’ll see some salary cap gymnastics from the 49ers’ brass moving forward. That happened on Wednesday, shortly after Bosa inked his extension. San Francisco saved north of $23 million by restructuring the contracts of Kittle and Williams.

Per Spotrac, San Francisco now has the third-most cap room in the NFL at $24.62 million. In fact, this figure will grow once the details of Bosa’s contract come out. His figure for 2023 will be dramatically smaller than if he had played under his original $17.85 million salary.

MORE FROM FORBESSan Francisco 49ers on the Forbes NFL Team Valuations List

There’s no reason to believe the 49ers are going to make a big move with that excess of money. But it does give them some flexibility should a player at a need position become available ahead of the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline. We saw this come into play after San Francisco acquired McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers last season.

The likelier scenario is that a vast majority of this money will roll into next season, creating more long-term flexibility in the process.

The 49ers made a big commitment Wednesday by signing Bosa to a record-breaking contract. It will have some financial ramifications moving forward. That’s for sure. But it’s a move they needed to make in order to keep that championship window open.

Reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers was a holdout from training camp as the former No. 2 pick looked to cash in on a long-term contract. Things were trending in the direction of him missing Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

About that? Conversations between Bosa and the 49ers have now turned into a record-breaking contract for the star edge rusher.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bosa has agree to a five-year, $170 million contract extension with $122.5 million guaranteed.

This makes Bosa the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, surpassing Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams in the process. In addition to this, Bosa is now the 15th highest-paid player in the league on a per-year basis.

In no way should this come as a surprise. Throughout the offseason, both Bosa and the 49ers seemed confident something would get done as the former No. 2 pick was set to play under the final year of his rookie contract in 2023.

“It’s pretty high. I think I am pretty confident about that. I think I’ll get what I deserve,” Nick Bosa on confidence level he’d get a new deal back in June.

For both Bosa and the 49ers, this was an absolute no-brainer. He might be the most valuable non-quarterback in the NFL and is getting paid like it. It just took longer than expected.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, Bosa was seen as a generational pass rush prospect. He lived up to those expectations out of the gate, earning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors en route to helping San Francisco to a surprise Super Bowl appearance.

After missing all but two games of the 2020 campaign due to a torn ACL, Bosa returned to form the following season by registering a league-best 21 tackles for loss to go with 18.5 sacks. He took that performance to an entirely new level in 2022.

Nick Bosa stats (2022): 51 tackles (19 for loss), 48 QB hits, 18.5 sacks

Bosa spearheaded a 49ers defense that ranked No. 1 in pretty much every major statistical category. He did this despite not getting much help from other on San Francisco’s defense from a pass-rush perspective.

For the 49ers, handing out the richest contract for a defender in league history has the team set moving forward. Core players such as running back Christian McCaffrey, tight end George Kittle, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, tackle Trent Williams and linebacker Fred Warner join Bosa in being locked up long term.

The next goal for the Super Bowl contenders will likely be breakout wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. He’s entering his fourth season in the NFL and will hit free agency following the 2024 campaign after San Francisco picked up the fifth-year option on the former first-round pick’s contract.

Corte Madera officials have selected a contractor to carry out the redevelopment of the San Clemente pumping station in the east of the city.

The city council voted unanimously to award the contract to JMB Construction of South San Francisco. The contract value is $2,834,300 and a 10% contingent liability for a total of $3,117,730.

The ruling also cleared San Francisco-based Mitchell Engineering of a bid proposal with a clerical error that reduced the cost of its bid by nearly $600,000. Mayor Charles Lee withdrew from voting because he owns land within 500 feet of the site.

The city has received four bids, said RJ Suokko, the city’s director of public works.

“This is a very important rainwater pumping station. It’s one of our larger stormwater pumping stations,” he said.

Built in 1987 to deal with flood risks, the San Clemente pumping station is one of nine flood protection systems in Corte Madera. It is located on Madera Del Presidio Drive on Paradise Drive.

The station’s 54-inch diameter drain pipe runs beneath the streets. It collects water from a 410-acre watershed and directs it to San Clemente Creek, which empties into the bay.

The project is rehabilitating the 805-foot pipe that has corroded in recent years and caused multiple sinkholes.

JMB Construction’s original bid was $3,159,300. The city removed optional work to install internal joint seals in the 770-foot reinforced concrete drain pipe, reducing costs by $325,000.

Mitchell Engineering was initially the seemingly lowest bidder at $2,673,500, but withdrew his bid because it should have been $585,000 higher than submitted.

Officials anticipate that the bulk of construction will begin in the spring.

The project is funded by Measure F, a sales tax introduced in the city in 2018. The city will use $1.2 million this fiscal year and $2,137,730 in fiscal year 2024-25.

Councilor Fred Casissa said he hoped future plans would involve drawing funds from Measure F to monitor spending.

“I don’t want to get to the point where we hit reserves,” Casissa said.

The downpipe is made of welded steel and reinforced concrete. It diverts water near Central Marin Fire Department Station 13 at 5600 Paradise Drive.

In 2010, the city replaced the pumping station’s outlet manifold. Corrosion drilled holes in the pipe, causing leaks that led to sinkholes in 2016 and 2021.

Local company ECM Technologies has secured an additional $400,000 contract increase to extend the City of Phoenix’s original $2.1 million to treat Sky Harbor Airport’s massive HVAC systems.

The company’s proprietary ThermaClear radically extends the lifespan and efficiency of HVAC systems with treatment throughout the life of the equipment, resulting in a further reduction in carbon footprint and significant energy savings of up to 15% per year.

ECM Technologies previously covered one of the airport’s facilities, which was part of a three-year pilot program conducted with the city at several of its construction sites. Operating costs and energy savings led to the company being hired to treat the city’s 12 million square feet of air-conditioned area.

The typical payback period for ThermaClear is between 24 and 36 months, based solely on annual electricity savings of 10 to 15%. Other benefits include longer equipment life with less maintenance. ThermaClear is compatible with most refrigerant types and associated lubricants and is fully guaranteed for the remaining life of the equipment.

“The trust the City of Phoenix has placed in us and our ability to reduce costs and their carbon footprint resulted in the $400,000 increase in our contract,” said David Fenton, general manager of ECM Technologies, in a press release. “Given the city’s mission to be carbon neutral by 2050, we plan to continue to be a trusted partner who will help significantly advance that goal.”

“We are strongly committed to actions that advance our goal of becoming a zero-carbon city by 2050, and this is one of them,” said Jim Gorombei, Phoenix Energy Systems Specialist, in the release.

ECM Technologies’ pilot programs have included a variety of operational building uses, including the Phoenix Art Museum, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, Arizona State University, Signature Flight Support, ISS Facilities Services and Transwestern. Successful treatments have been performed on all makes and models of major HVAC equipment, from 1 ton mini-split units to 2,000 ton water-cooled chillers.

The savings results were demonstrated at each location of the pilot property and validated by external, independent professional engineers.

San Francisco regulators have pushed back a vote to lift San Francisco’s ban on city officials doing business with companies headquartered in states that have enacted anti-LGBTQ laws, abortion bans or restricted voting access in recent years. They did so despite objections from local minorities and LGBTQ entrepreneurs who fear it will have a negative impact on them.

Meanwhile, District 8 gay warden Rafael Mandelman on Tuesday introduced an ordinance to completely abandon the city’s policy of banning travel to and doing business in conservative states. He was joined as co-sponsors by Supervisors Catherine Stefani of District 2 and Hilary Ronen of District 9, and Board Chairperson Aaron Peskin, representing District 3.

“Removing 12X will increase bidding competition and reduce contract costs, saving San Francisco tens of millions or more each year. And it will better advance our social policy goals by allowing us to engage with the actual communities impacted by restrictive LGBTQ, abortion, voting and human rights policies,” Mandelman said in announcing the regulation. “I got it As I said before, the best pressure we can put on red states is to show that progressive San Francisco can be governed effectively.”

District 11 Supervisor Ahsha Safaí had requested that the vote on his ordinance be postponed to the March 14 Board of Supervisors meeting to continue meeting with business leaders in the city. Last November, he introduced the ordinance to abolish the contracting ban.

But when the Regulators’ Rules Committee, of which Safaí is a part, finally raised the city policy overhaul known as 12X at its February 13 meeting, local business leaders complained that they had not been consulted on the matter. Safaí promised to meet with them to hear their concerns and asked for the continuation at Tuesday’s full board meeting to continue those discussions.

“We’ve had some of those talks, but I want to give space to continue those talks,” said Safaí, who voted to introduce the 12X policy when it was first proposed.

The 11 supervisors voted unanimously to allow progress, although District 7 Supervisor Myrna Melgar suggested that more time was needed to gather community input on the 12X policy change. It also includes a ban on most taxpayer-funded city breaks in the 30 states now covered by the directive, although the travel ban would not be affected by Safaí’s regulation.

“If we’re going to reform it, we have to do it wisely,” Melgar said, adding that she feared two weeks wasn’t “enough time to get the community involved.”

District 10 Supervisor Shamann Walton reiterated his opposition to the proposal, which he originally made during the hearing before the Rules Committee, of which he is vice chair. A major objection made by Walton is that changing the 12X policy would result in rewards for large multinational corporations headquartered in states that have legislated against the values that support San Francisco and its residents.

“In my opinion, this will only support the people who support these discriminatory laws,” Walton said.

The 12X Directive was first enacted in 2016 and initially included only those states that had previously passed laws that discriminated against their LGBTQ residents. In 2019, the policy was extended to states that restricted abortion and again in 2021 to states with election-busting laws. California also has a law that bans most taxpayer-funded travel to states that have passed anti-LGBTQ laws in the past eight years, but does not prohibit contracts with companies in those states.

With more than half the country now on San Francisco’s blacklist, critics argue it’s hampering city governments’ ability to find qualified contractors. They also insist it increases the cost of projects because companies that could make the work less expensive won’t bid for them at all if they’re in a banned state.

Critics of 12X, like District 6 gay supervisor Matt Dorsey, also claim that it has failed in its goal of convincing lawmakers in affected states to repeal the laws that put them on San Francisco’s ban list . According to a 16-page memo the city government’s office sent to regulators earlier this month, the implications of the 12X policy in other states are “not clear.”

It concluded that the 12X policy created “additional administrative burdens for city staff and vendors and unintended consequences for San Francisco citizens, such as: B. the restriction of enrichment and development opportunities”.

The memo came at the request of five supervisors who asked the city bureau to review the 12X policy last October. Among them was Mandelman, who supports updating the ban but had been working on his own ordinance for it.

“I don’t think the right way to make a change is to flip the bird and walk away,” he told the Bay Area Reporter, writing last week that supervisors are slowing down their decision-making process on the 12X should policy.

In a letter sent to the Rules Committee and shared with all supervisors, the San Francisco Latino Black Builders Association questioned whether there was any data showing that a change to the 12X policy was warranted. It asked supervisors to require city authorities to prove that work efficiency was reduced or costs increased as a result of the contract ban.

“We support the intent of the original regulation and the support it offers to LGBTQ communities across the country. We also approve of the idea of supporting local and Californian businesses,” wrote Anne Cervantes, a founder and co-chair of the association.

But former District 8 gay supervisor Scott Wiener, now a senator, is urging current supervisors to repeal the entire 12X policy he originally wrote. It is no longer a sound public policy, he claims.

“When I penned 12X, we believed that a coalition of cities and states would form to create real consequences for states that enact these despicable, hateful laws,” Wiener said. “However, as it turns out, that coalition never formed and the full potential impact of those policies never materialized. Instead, San Francisco is now penalizing businesses in other states — including LGBTQ owners, women owners, and people of color. owned corporations — for the sins of their far-right governments. Additionally, the City of San Francisco employees are unable to fly to a large number of states for critical needs, whether collaborating on HIV prevention and treatment strategies or helping working together on critical transportation strategies, it is time to acknowledge that this policy has not worked and we must back down.”

UPDATED 2/28/23 to include the new regulation put in place to repeal the entire 12X policy.

WACO, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Decisive Point Consulting Group (“DPCG” or the “Company”), a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business providing Health Information Technology and Patient Safety Technology Integration to the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA), today announced the signing of a contract award supporting the San Francisco VA Health Care System (“San Francisco VA”), San Francisco, CA, under its partnership with CareView Communications Inc. Decisive Point Consulting Group and CareView formed a Partnership to contract directly with VA hospitals to use a variety of CareView products to enhance the services being provided to veterans.

The CareView Patient Safety System facilitates continuous remote patient monitoring of any patient that may be at risk of harm due to fall precautions, behavioral issues, suicidal ideation, etc. The solution leverages an in-room wireless mobile cart with camera, display, and audio capabilities utilizing CareView’s patented Virtual Bed Rails® and Virtual Chair Rails® technologies to improve patient safety. The Virtual Bed Rails® use machine learning to identify when the patient’s movement indicates a fall may be imminent, and subsequently alerts the Safety Technician. Pre-recorded messages in patients’ native language or 2-way audio allow for direct communication with the patient. The system can offer a considerable reduction in sitter labor costs and greatly enhance overall patient safety. This solution can conduct telemedicine consultations and integrate industry standard nurse call platforms once available for integration at the San Francisco facility.

CareView’s innovative Patient Safety System is the only virtual sitter solution in the industry with no audible alarms in patient areas, making it the perfect solution for VA Community Living Centers (CLC’s). Additionally, because patient privacy is important, the CareView System features a privacy option mode that can be utilized when needed, ensuring enhanced safety, security, and peace of mind for loved ones.

Daniel Wilcox, DPCG Systems Engineer, stated, “We are pleased to be working with San Francisco VA and know that our solution will address their current and future needs to reduce patient falls while increasing overall patient safety and staff efficacy. We are looking forward to working closely with our VA partners to integrate the enhanced system capabilities inherent to the system in the San Francisco VA once those disparate capabilities are deployed on site.”

The 49ers are in the middle of their offseason training program. They held their first OTA practice, which was open to the media last week, and the media will be on hand for Wednesday’s practice this week.

In this week’s mailbag, 49ers fans primarily focused their questions on the offensive line and possible contract extensions for a couple of veteran players; however, they also wondered what caused the early season struggles.

@Ottomattick – Why did the 49ers play so poorly early last season, especially at home? Do you think they will start out better this season?

San Francisco started hot last season, winning their first two games on the road.

Going through the losses, the main problem for the 49ers early last season was turnovers. Against Green Bay, San Francisco had the ball on the Packers’ side of the 50 midways through the fourth quarter when Jimmy Garoppolo fumbled the ball. This led to three points for the Packers, and even though San Francisco came back to take the lead, they were now up one instead of being up four.

San Francisco started hot the following week against Seattle, scoring a touchdown on their first possession. Jimmy Garoppolo threw an interception on the next possession, followed by a missed Mitch Wishnowsky field goal. After Seattle scored to go ahead 14-7, Trenton Cannon fumbled the kickoff. Seattle scored two plays later, and the 49ers couldn’t dig themselves out of the hole.

The turnover trend continued in both losses to Arizona and the loss to Indianapolis.

Once San Francisco could clean this up, their season turned around, and they won seven of their last nine in the regular season.

The schedule sets up nicely for San Francisco to get off to a fast start in 2022. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the 49ers start the season 6-0.

@jonathanshain – “If Alex Mack retires, do the 49ers stick with what they have or do they trade for a veteran center?”

I do not see a situation in which the 49ers trade for a veteran center, and they currently have three offensive linemen on their roster who can play center.

Jake Brendel wants to get the first shot. The veteran has started only three games in his NFL career, but he has the type of mobility Kyle Shanahan looks at the position.

If Brendel doesn’t get the nod, they have Daniel Brunskill, who started eight games at the position for San Francisco. Moving him from right guard creates an opening that would be filled by either Jaylon Moore or rookie Spencer Burford.

San Francisco signed Dohnovan West as an undrafted free agent. The former Arizona State Sun Devil was solid in college but will need time to develop. It’s unlikely the 49ers will go this route.

@joninsocal – “Is JC Tretter still available?”

The eight-year veteran is still available through free agency. Tretter has started all 16 games over the last five seasons with Cleveland.

San Francisco does not have the cap space currently to add Tretter. If Alex Mack retires, they will free up $4.275 million which could then go towards making this signing come to fruition.

@NinerMcgregor – “What sort of season does Mike McGlinchey need to have for the 49ers to offer him a second contract?”

McGlinchey is playing for his next contract this season, but it likely won’t be with the 49ers.

The veteran right tackle is due to earn $10.888 million this year, and I don’t know if the 49ers are in a position to pay more than that moving forward.

I think the answer to this question is more about the development of Spencer Burford and Jaylon Moore.

If Burford or Moore shows they can take over at right tackle, McGlinchey will not be retained. This is part of what happens when a team has several players getting paid near the top of their position.

@Swansong – “What kind of season does Jimmie Ward need to have to be offered an extension?”

I expected the 49ers to try and extend Ward to lower his cap hit this offseason, and that hasn’t happened.

On Tuesday, Ward talked about making the plays it takes to become an All-Pro or be named to the Pro Bowl. It will likely take that type of season from Ward to be given a contract that meets his expectations from the 49ers.

To reach that level, Ward will need to find a way to force more turnovers, something he has struggled with throughout his career.

Ward is a solid deep safety; however, he has only two interceptions and one fumble recovery over the last five seasons.

If Ward can find a way to turn this around, he will be handsomely rewarded with a new contract following the season.

Brady just has one campaign left with Tampa Bay, and he may become a free agent by 2023. As for rumors circulating that he may want to end his career with the San Francisco 49ers, everything seems to be an enigma.

According to Mike Florio of the Pro Football Talk, Licht said to reporters on Monday, “We’re just happy that we have him back. We’ll see where it goes from here. We’re just happy he’s going to be playing for us this year, and we’ll see where it goes.”

SAN JOSE (AP) – The San Jose Sharks have unconditionally given up on striker Evander Kane with intent to terminate the remainder of his seven-year $ 49 million deal.

The Sharks said Saturday that they made the move because Kane violated COVID-19 protocols in the AHL, where he currently plays for the Barracuda. The termination of the contract will cost Kane approximately $ 22.9 million remaining from the contract signed in May 2018.

“We are aware of the Sharks’ decision to terminate Evander for contract termination,” said Kane’s agent Dan Milstein. “If he clarifies, we’ll file a complaint. The sharks do not have sufficient reasons to take this action. “

The NHLPA issued a statement on Twitter saying that the union also “intends to challenge such measures by filing a complaint”.

Shark’s left wing Evander Kane warms up before their game against the Vegas Golden Knights on May 12, 2021. (Matt Cohen via Getty Images)

The move ends a month-long saga of Kane’s status with the sharks. He faced allegations of gambling, deliberate loss of games he had wagered on, and sexual and physical abuse by the estranged Ms. Anna over the course of the summer.

The NHL investigated these allegations and found no evidence, but banned Kane from 21 games for filing a fake COVID-19 vaccination card. When the suspension was lifted in late November, the Sharks waived Kane and sent him to the AHL when he was not claimed.

Kane had eight points in five games with San Jose Barracuda in the AHL before being inducted into the AHL’s COVID-19 protocols on December 22nd.

“That surprised me as much as everyone else,” said coach Bob Boughner on Saturday before the team’s game in Philadelphia. “Of course it’s a management decision. I’ll say the same thing we’ve been dealing with here for a long time when his name comes up, it’s not really a focus of this group. We focus on the guys we have to move forward. “

The 30-year-old Kane scored 22 goals and 22 assists in 56 games for the Sharks last season. Kane has also played for the Atlanta / Winnipeg franchise and Buffalo since he was drafted fourth overall by the Thrashers in 2009.

“As head coach, would you perhaps want your best offensive player in the line-up? Of course, ”said Boughner. “But I understand the situation. Am I disappointed in him personally? Yes, that would be the case for everyone. For me it’s just business as usual. I can’t focus on that. I cannot go into that. Concentrate on what we have, not what we don’t. “

Kane has scored 264 goals and 242 assists in 769 career games.

Right-handed Anthony DeSclafani and the San Francisco Giants agreed on a three-year contract, the team announced on Monday. The contract is valued at $ 36 million as the club imprisoned the 31-year-old who did a successful year-long showcase.

The Giants, who led baseball with 107 wins last season, are aggressively working to rebuild their rotation. Another pitcher the team is pursuing is right-handed Alex Cobb, a source told ESPN Alden Gonzalez.

DeSclafani turned the best season of his career in 2021 after signing with the Giants for $ 6 million and going 13-7 over 167.2 innings with an ERA of 3.17. Primarily a fastball slider pitcher, DeSclafani’s premium control, and the Giants’ excellent defense went well together as he linked a career high with 31 starts.

1 relatives

San Francisco’s desire to enter the pitching market comes when a potential lockout approaches on December 2nd and a limited amount of rotatable pitching continues to come off the board. Signatories include Justin Verlander, Noah Syndergaard, Eduardo Rodriguez and Andrew Heaney. In the next week, Cobb, left-handed Steven Matz, right-handed Jon Gray and right-handed Corey could find Kluber deals.

The best pitchers in the class – Max Scherzer, Robbie Ray, Kevin Gausman and Marcus Stroman – could wait until after the lockout to sign.

After DeSclafani signs, the Giants’ projected payroll is around $ 100 million, which gives them significant flexibility to track free agents for big and small dollars alike as they try to bolster their lineup and a rotation behind the 25 year old Logan Webb. put together their breakout star by 2021.

You already work with left-handed Alex Wood, who is on a two-year contract worth more than $ 10 million per season.
