It seems like SF Giants fans will be seeing more of Buster Posey at Oracle Park in the near future. After a brief period living in his home state of Georgia following his retirement following the 2021 season, the three-time World Series champion and future Hall of Fame catcher is currently in the process of moving back to the Bay Area, according to Andrew Baggarly to draw from The Athletic.

Buster Posey says he and his family will be moving to the Bay Area.

Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

“As Posey explained, it took a year for the family to realize that the Bay Area had become a place where they truly felt at home,” Baggarly wrote. “Her two twins were born here. So last week they loaded the moving truck. This will give Posey the opportunity to watch more Giants games from the stands.”

The news was originally mentioned during former Giants manager and current Texas Rangers captain Bruce Bochy's KNBR radio interview Friday morning. When asked by the “Murph and Mac” show if he should stay in touch with Posey, Bochy said it had been a while since the two had spoken, but he had heard about Posey's plan to return to the Bay Area .

During his retirement press conference after the 2021 season, Posey and his wife Kristen expressed interest in moving back to Georgia with their four children to be closer to their families.

“We've been on one coast, they've been on another coast, actually since 2008 when I was drafted,” Posey told reporters at the time. “We’re definitely excited about that. Due to COVID, there is a niece we haven't met yet. Most of my family hasn't met our twin girls yet. And it's certainly like many families that are separated. COVID has made it harder for people to see each other. That’s why we’re excited to be closer to them and spend time with them.”

The family liquidated their local real estate, listing their six-bedroom Lafayette home for $7.5 million in March 2022 and scoring an off-market sale for $9.28 million. A month later, they followed suit, listing a 106-acre ranch in Oroville for $3.9 million.

The Poseys' recent change of heart led to the family selling their suburban Atlanta home for about $3.85 million last month, according to Realtor.com.

Posey joined the Giants ownership group in September 2022 and serves as a principal partner on a six-member board. He's been involved in the decision-making process from afar – including frequent visits to San Francisco – but the full-time move west could mean Posey's influence on the organization becomes much greater.

Because he is a core part of the Giants organization, Posey has been a part of several offseason free agent recruiting efforts. Even after his retirement, he was remotely involved in the club's recent pursuit of Aaron Judge and Carlos Correa last offseason.

Buster Posey, 36, has been spotted on several occasions this season at Oracle Park, sitting in seats next to the SF Giants dugout along with chairman Greg Johnson.

After offloading his lavish East Bay mansion (and the custom treehouse in the garden) earlier this year, retired San Francisco Giants legend Buster Posey has now listed his sprawling California hunting getaway as he heads back to his native Georgia.

The 106-acre Springer Lodge in Butte County has been listed by California Outdoor Properties for $3.9 million this week. The ranch, around 150 miles outside San Francisco, features a lake, two creeks and many acres of land for duck hunting and fishing.

“I grew up hunting with my dad and my brothers, and I formulated great childhood memories through that,” Posey told the Wall Street Journal, “The kids have enjoyed it for sure.”

The Poseys added to the 3,300 square-foot home during their time there by building a 4,800 square-foot red barn, complete with an events space, game room and five sleeping areas. The family also built a workshop and caretaker house on the land that’s described in the listing as a “one of a kind sportsman’s paradise.”

Posey’s sale of their Lafayette home in March saw them make a significant profit, selling for $9.28 million after purchasing the house for $4.585 million in June 2013 during his long tenure at the Giants, the only MLB team he ever played for. Posey won three World Series championships and was a seven-time All Star in San Francisco. Buster and his wife Kristen, who met in high school in Georgia, are moving back to the Peach State.

The Oroville ranch was bought by the Poseys in 2016 for $1.6 million. A cinematic promotional video for the property showcases the home.

“Far removed from public access, and behind locked gates, the journey into the ranch unfolds as if opening a picture book,” the narrator, who sounds a lot like Sam Elliott, boasts over footage of the sprawling acres and many taxidermied animals.

Take a look here:

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey will announce his retirement from baseball on Thursday, according to a report by The Athletic on Wednesday.

Posey, 34, has played his entire 12-year career in San Francisco, helping the team win three World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

The Giants said last month they would exercise Posey’s $ 22 million club option for the 2022 season as long as the veteran catcher wanted to keep playing after a stellar year.

Posey hinted during the playoffs that he might be ready and said he was willing to spend more family time at home with four young children.

“I’m definitely going to take some time with my wife, talk to her, be a full-time father of four for the first time in a while,” Posey said. Take it slowly and see how things play out . ”

Posey chose from the 2020 campaign shortened by the coronavirus to help care for premature adopted twin girls. He and his wife Kristen also have twins Lee and Addison, who have just turned 10.

Posey, whose deal includes a $ 3 million buyout, helped lead the Giants to a franchise record of 107 wins and their first National League West title since 2012 by regularly on the track played and demonstrated its health and durability.

He hit .304 with 18 homers and 56 RBIs, showing that his surgically repaired right hip was finally back to full strength three years after surgery. Posey would be one of six division-era players to hit .300 or better in his final MLB season, according to ESPN Stats & Information Research.

Posey, the 2010 NL Rookie of the Year, returned from a devastating leg injury at the end of the 2011 season and won the NL MVP the following year.

He tore three ligaments in his left ankle and broke a bone in his lower leg when he was run over by the Scott Cousins of the Marlins on May 25, 2011. Posey responded by winning the 2012 batting crown and MVP honors while turning the Giants to an a. led the second World Series championship in three years.

Posey advocated rules for better protection against collisions with home plate in order to avoid injuries for both catchers and baserunners.

“I try to stay out of the conversation as much as I can because I know people will connect me with him anyway,” Posey said in January 2014. “I just sit back and let the higher forces hammer it the end. I have my thoughts, but I keep them to myself. “

Posey was selected fifth by the Giants in the first round of the 2008 draft from Florida State, where he played all nine field positions in the same game in May 2008.

“Buster Posey is hanging them up. What an incredible career for a lifelong giant,” former Oakland Athletics left-hander Dallas Braden wrote on Twitter. “The statue is already being built.”

Posey is a lifetime .302 hitter, making him one of six catchers in Major League history to start 1,000 games at the catcher and have a lifetime batting average of .300 or more (subject to inclusion of Negro League stats) .

Manager Gabe Kapler said both players were encouraged by how they felt in the park on Wednesday.

Posey, 34, was drawn during an 8-0 win over the Mets in the fifth inning Tuesday night after umpire Greg Gibson told Kapler that Posey was out.

Kapler said the seven-time all-star was moving well on Wednesday and planned to test his knee in a catcher squat during punch training. Curt Casali should start one way or the other with the catcher.

“It’s just good news at the moment,” said Kapler. “But obviously these things take turns and turns, so let’s keep an eye on it.”

Posey had a resurgent year after skipping the 2020 season curtailed by the coronavirus when he and his wife adopted premature twin girls. The 2012 National League MVP single and scored in the fourth inning on Tuesday to increase his batting average to .314 with 39 RBIs and a .925 OPS.

Crawford, 34, finished fifth the day after being lifted in the seventh inning. Kapler said Crawford felt some tightness ahead of Tuesday’s game, and since San Francisco blew New York out, the club got him going.

Crawford went 1 for 4 with 2 RBIs in Wednesday’s win and hit a green double with two runs in the seventh inning.

The San Francisco Giants placed all-star catcher Buster Posey on the 10-day injury list with a bruise of his left thumb, the team said on Friday.

Posey, 34, has not played since his injury in the sixth inning of a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 4th. The move took place retrospectively on Tuesday.

He was injured after firing an awkward shot at his glove after being fouled by Daulton Varsho. An X-ray of the thumb at the time was negative, but an MRI on Thursday revealed a bruised bone.

“If you’ve bruised your heel while running, it can be quite painful and you can make it worse again pretty easily,” manager Gabe Kapler said Friday. “I imagine being back and catching balls that are moving all over the place.”

Posey was chosen to start as a catcher for the National League in the All-Star game next week but said on Friday that he won’t make the trip to Denver.

“I’m of course disappointed,” said Posey, who has now set up seven All-Star teams. “It’s an honor to play in this game. I know my oldest two [kids] were excited to be there. But these things happen and you move on. “

Posey beats .328 with 12 homers for the Giants, who entered the NL with the best record on Friday.

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – The cold front that brings April showers to the San Francisco Bay Area on Sunday evening won’t be strong enough to alleviate the scale-dry drought conditions, but much-needed rainfall will delay another historic forest fire season for the time being. according to the National Weather Service.

The San Francisco Bay Area has slipped back into moderate to severe drought conditions after the jet stream carried the winter storms to the northwest and left Northern California high and dry.

On Tuesday evening, Marin County became the first community in the Bay Area to introduce tough new water use restrictions as local reservoirs continue to sink to alarming levels.

In contrast to other counties, Marin is only dependent on reservoirs in the coastal area and not from the sierra for its water supply. The region received less than 50 percent of its normal rainfall last year.

In other places, the hills and forests are tinder-dry again – much drier than last autumn, when the region suffered from a historic 2020 fire season.

More than two million acres – 3,125 square miles – almost three times the size of Chicago, Manhattan, and Los Angeles combined, were burned to death.

The forest fires burned thousands of homes, claimed dozens of lives, and charred forests, woodlands, and vineyards to BC
Vineyards that reveal an ugly fear from space.

“Overall, this storm will have little impact on the long-term drought,” said federal forecasters on Wednesday. “However, there is growing confidence that most parts of the Bay Area will rain Sunday through Monday. In the
At least this will take a break at the start of the fire season as fuel moisture levels tend towards historically dry levels. “

The 2020 firestorm was ignited by a severe dry thunderstorm. Forecasters said it was a little early to predict if the weekend storm has the potential for lightning strikes.

A small storm front rolling through Tuesday brought only light showers, but caused more than 30 lightning strikes in wine country – a region devastated in last fall’s firestorm. Fortunately, no new flames were reported.

The total amount of rain for Sunday to Monday is half a centimeter to one centimeter in the North Bay and in the coastal mountains, and a quarter of an inch in lower elevations.

“If this works, it will be the first rain since March 18-19,” said forecasters.

A warning has also been issued to northern California residents planning weekend hikes and camping trips in the Sierra.

“Sierra Passes can experience periods of heavy, wet snow from Saturday evening through Sunday and Monday, with possible impact on travel and chain checks, especially at night,” the forecasters said. “Mountain communities like Tahoe, Truckee, and Bridgeport vary between rain and snow.”
