DAVID Bonola, the handyman accused of stabbing Orsolya Gaal, has reportedly made a shocking confession about the murder and given a reason for it.

Newly uncovered court documents show Bonola believed Gaal infected him with HIV and made the claim on March 20.

The night Bonola allegedly stabbed Gaal, he followed her home from a bar after she was watching a show with friends.

“She opened the door and asked me what I was doing there,” he allegedly told investigators, according to New York Post court records.

“I told her I just wanted her to tell me the truth about why she gave me HIV. She said she didn’t have HIV.”

Bonola also claims Gaal cheated on him, the records say.

“She lied to me, she used me. She told me she loves me. She couldn’t be with one person,” he allegedly told investigators.

Bonola claims he and the married woman had an affair for two years.

On the night of the stabbing, Bonola claims Gaal told him their affair was over. She then allegedly grabbed a knife and threatened to kill Bonola if he didn’t leave her house.

“I grabbed the knife and cut her throat,” Bonola reportedly told investigators.

“She kept fighting and we fell. She moved and tried to grab me, so I stabbed her in the neck to stop her attacking me.”

Bonola claims to have cleaned Gaal’s house with towels before dumping her body in her son’s duffel bag and dumped it about a mile from the house, according to the court documents.

He also allegedly dumped Gaal’s laptop in the Hudson River, authorities say.

“In the past she told me that she sent a man to jail, so I sent a message to her husband pretending to be that guy because I was scared,” Bonola reportedly said.

“I took her laptop because she had sex tapes on the laptop. I threw her laptop into the Hudson River where I used to visit her often.”

Bonola, originally from Mexico, was charged with murder, criminal tampering, and criminal possession of weapons in connection with Gaal’s death.

He has pleaded not guilty.

NYPD detective chief James vinegarsays David Bonola is charged with second-degree murder, first-degree criminal manipulation and fourth-degree criminal firearms possession. He was due to be charged later in the day on Thursday.

Bonola confessed to police after his arrest, according to a police officer. At a news conference Thursday, Essig claimed Bonola made “incriminating statements.”

Essig said the investigation is ongoing and no suspects have been identified.

A deadly affair

Authorities believe Gaal and Bonola, a handyman employed by her family, had an intimate relationship, police said based on the preliminary investigation.

According to police, the relationship had been “on and off” for about two years and was “being mooted” when Gaal was killed early Saturday.

Gaal went to and returned to a show on Friday night forest mountains home around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, according to investigators, according to vinegar.

According to the NYPD, a trail of blood led to this 72-24 Juno Street, about half a mile northwest of where the bag was discovered. Gaal, who resided at Juno Street, has been identified as the woman.

According to the Office of the New York CoronerGaal’s cause of death was ruled a sharp laceration to the neck and her cause of death was manslaughter.

Lots of evidence against Bonola

Essig said Thursday that investigators found the jacket Bonola was wearing when Gaal was killed. At another location, they discovered boots, a T-shirt, and bloody bandages. According to Essig, Bonola was treated for wounds on both hands at a local hospital later on Saturday.

The knife believed to have been used in Gaal’s murder was also recovered by police. The knife matched other knives found in the apartment Deputy Chief Commanding Officer of Queens North Julie Morrill.

A 44-year-old New York City handyman who admitted to stabbing his ex-lover more than 50 times before stuffing her body in a duffel bag and leaving it outside near a park will spend several decades in prison.

Queen’s Supreme Court Judge Michael Aloise sentenced on Wednesday David Bonola to 25 years in prison for the brutal slaying of 51-year-old Orsolya Gaal Earlier this year, prosecutors announced.

In addition to the prison time, Judge Aloise also sentenced Bonola to an additional five years of post-release probation.

“This was a brutal killing, and no amount of prison time can bring the victim back to her loved ones,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement following the proceeding. “Today’s sentencing, however, provides a measure of justice and I hope the victim’s family can rest easier knowing that the person responsible was held fully accountable.”

Prosecutors had initially charged Bonola with murder but in November agreed to drop that charge in exchange for Bonola pleading guilty to the lesser charge of first-degree manslaughter, Law&Crime previously reported.

According to a press release from prosecutors, Bonola at approximately 12:30 am on April 16 arrived at Gaal’s home. The 51-year-old woman had just returned to her residence in Forest Hills after an evening out at Lincoln Center.

“Bonola and the victim, who were previously known to one another, began to argue. The verbal fight quickly escalated to Bonola slashing Gaal’s throat and stabbing her more than 50 times with a knife,” the press release states. “At approximately 4:15 am, Bonola was captured on a nearby home’s security video surveillance footage wheeling a hockey duffel bag belonging to one of the victim’s sons. The bag, containing Gaal’s lifeless body, was found at about 8:00 am on Metropolitan Avenue, near Union Turnpike, in the vicinity of Forest Park.”

A dog-walker found the bag in question, the DA’s office said.

On the date of the investigation unfolded, a homicide detective said during a press gaggle that the authorities believed Bonola and Gaal had an “intimate-type relationship” and that a “heated” argument began over “domestic” issues between the two. NBC News reported that authorities said Gaal and Bonola were in an “on-again-off-again” romantic relationship that was considered “off” during their final encounter.

A “trail of blood” led investigators from the bag with Gaal’s body in it directly to the doorstep of the home where she resided with her husband and two teenage sons, the local constabulary said. Investigators searched the home where they recovered the murder weapon “hidden” inside.

The jacket Bonola wore during the attack was found in Forest Park.

Gaal’s husband and one of her sons were reportedly out of town visiting colleges at the time of her death; another son was home asleep and apparently was unaware that his mother was being killed.

As the police combed the crime scene, WABC reported that Bonola simply walked up to detectives and said, “I hear you are looking for me.”

“Days later, the defendant offered to speak to police and during questioning made incriminating statements,” one of the DA’s press releases stated. “He revealed that some time on Saturday he went to a hospital for a cut on his hand. He also stated in sum and substance that he and the victim argued and confessed to stabbing her and moving her body.”

Authorities said the cut on his hand was the result of Gaal fighting off his attacks.

“This heinous killing devastated an entire family, left two boys without a mother, and horrified the surrounding community,” DA Katz said in a statement announcing the plea deal. “I want to thank my prosecutors for their exhaustive efforts in securing this plea.”

QUEENS, NY– The suspect in the murder of a New York mother of two whose body was found in a duffel bag made his first court appearance late Thursday night, and more details of the grisly crime emerged.

And while 44-year-old David Bonola is being prosecuted for murder, federal immigration authorities are looking into whether he entered the country illegally from his native Mexico 21 years ago and have filed a detainee with the court.

“ICE focuses its civil immigration enforcement priorities on the apprehension and removal of noncitizens who pose a threat to our national security, public safety, and border security,” an ICE spokesperson said.

Prosecutors say the victim, 51-year-old Orsoyla Gaal, let Bonola inside her Forest Hills home in Queens and that the two had an on-again, off-again affair over the past two years.

The prosecution submitted a transcript of Bonola’s taped statement made to police, during which they say he confessed.

Gaal let him in “because she knew him,” but he overstayed his welcome, a prosecutor said, stating that Gaal asked Bonola to “leave multiple times” before he stabbed her nearly 60 times.

“The defendant and victim were known to each other,” assistant district attorney Josh Garland said. “Because she knew him, she let him into the house. He then engaged her in a verbal dispute and unfortunately she had to ask him to leave multiple times.”

Prosecutors also revealed Bonola allegedly slashed Gaal’s throat before stuffing her body in a hockey bag and dragging it and dumping it at the end of a long trail of blood that led back to Gaal’s home.

“Two boys are left without a mother and a young teenager faces the added trauma of being home when this heinous murder took place,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said. “As alleged, the defendant stabbed the victim over 50 times and then attempted to dispose of the body by stuffing it into a duffel bag and dragging it across a quiet residential neighborhood, leaving a trail of blood and a terrified community. The defendant is now in custody and will be held to account for this horrific crime.”

During the investigation, police recovered a bloody jacket and blood-stained tissues from inside Forest Park.

On Wednesday, the defendant offered to speak to police and, during questioning, made incriminating statements, police said.

Bonola allegedly revealed that some time on Saturday he went to a New York City hospital for a cut on his hand. He also told police he and the victim argued, he allegedly confessed to stabbing her and moving her body, according to prosecutors.

“Based upon information provided by persons known to the New York City Police Department and the Queens County District Attorney’s office, recovered video surveillance, and statements and admissions made by the defendant, David Bonola, that, at the above-mentioned date, time, and place of occurrence, the defendant did stab the victim, Orsolya Gaal, numerous times with a knife, thereby causing her death, after which he placed her body in a duffle bag and moved it to the sidewalk at another location,” the criminal complaint said.

Bonola was ordered held without bail on second-degree murder charges and, at the request of defense attorney David Strahan, was placed on suicide watch.

Bonola is due back in court next week. He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
