San Francisco Centre’s American Eagle faces retailer closure

(KRON) – American Eagle Outfitters in the Westfield San Francisco Centre is set to close permanently, according to filings on the California Employment Development Department website.
According to the website, the location has 52 employees. The store is scheduled to close permanently on June 12.
In September 2023, American Eagle sued Westfield for breach of the lease agreement and overall unsafe work conditions for employees.
American Eagle is one of many stores that has exited the San Francisco mall. In 2023, Cinemark Theaters, Nordstrom, LEGO and Hollister left the San Fransico mall. The following year Adidas, Aldo, J. Crew, Lucky Brand and Madewell also closed their stores.
American Eagle has stores in Concord, Pleasanton, San Mateo and Santa Clara. The outlet stores are located in Napa, Livermore and Milpitas.
