San Francisco-based Anchor Brewing to be bought by Chobani yogurt CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, sources say

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — Anchor Brewing will have a new owner almost a year after the legendary San Francisco brewery abruptly went out of business
Anchor will be purchased by the 51-year-old billionaire founder and CEO of Chobani yogurt, Hamdi Ulukaya, ABC7 News sources have confirmed.

He is reportedly buying the brewery lock, stock and barrel. It’s believed Ulukaya has been meeting or will meet with stakeholders.
Anchor – founded in San Francisco in 1896 – was shuttered in July by its former owner, Sapporo Breweries.
Ulukaya’s pending purchase of the brewery is set to be announced publicly Friday.
