Beautifect, the brainchild of ex-dentist now beauty-tech genius, Dr Tara Lavlani, has perfected the hassle of beauty routines.
Before Dr Tara founded the glam-in-the-box, she often struggled with applying her daily beauty regime. But, she realised that beauty shouldn’t take too much effort and decided to spruce up an innovation that counters your beauty inconveniences.
From having disorganised and messy tables to a compact mini make-up box, she talks GRAZIA through her journey from having over 10 years of dentistry experience, to being an award-winning beauty-tech genius of the 21st century in the latest edition of The Career Edit.

My career path so far has been…
TL: I graduated as a Dental Surgeon from a leading London institute and worked in the field for over a decade. I took some time away to have my children and it was during this time when I had the idea for Beautifect.
The story of Beautifect began…
TL: In 2017 when I, a busy mom of two young children, found my makeup routine to be a daily inconvenience and chore. Having to retreat to a dimly lit room with disorganized cosmetics bags, I realized there had to be a better way. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find a solution that met my needs, so I took it upon myself to make the routine easier not just for me but for everyone else too.
After three years of intense research and development, I introduced the innovative Beautifect Box, which quickly became a favourite among beauty enthusiasts, celebrities, and industry insiders worldwide. Within the first month, it earned a coveted spot at the prestigious luxury retailer, Harrods. We expanded into other major outlets like Fenwick and Sephora, as well as into the Middle East with a launch on the luxury platform Ounass. The United States emerged as our largest market, with A-list celebrities not only endorsing but also becoming loyal customers of the brand.
Today, Beautifect is poised to lead the global market for best-in-class beauty tools. We remain committed to pushing boundaries, and continuously creating new products that prioritize quality, design, and performance. At Beautifect, our journey is all about the relentless pursuit of excellence and redefining beauty routines worldwide.

I ventured into the beauty industry because…
TL: Of a personal struggle: my makeup routine felt more like a burdensome chore than a delightful part of my day. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find any existing solutions on the market. That void inspired me to create Beautifect—an innovative answer to an everyday problem. My background in Dental Surgery played a significant role in shaping Beautifect’s design. In dentistry, precise lighting is essential for accuracy and detail. That’s why I made lighting the cornerstone of the Beautifect Box, integrating advanced technology with a remarkable Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 90+.
The organizational aspect of the Beautifect Box draws inspiration from the meticulous organization of my dental tray. I wanted users to effortlessly navigate their makeup routine, just as professionals do in surgery. Thus, our compartmentalized storage system was born, ensuring that every step of the makeup process flows seamlessly. At Beautifect, we’ve crafted more than just a beauty product; it’s a fusion of personal experience, professional insight, and commitment to enhancing everyday routines.
My daily routine consists of…
TL: I start my day around 7am when I check my agenda for the day and any emails that would have come in overnight from the US. I then get my kids to school and pop into a Pilates reformer class on my way home. I will then either be at my desk where I quickly do my makeup using my Beautifect Box before zoom calls begin or if it’s a day of meetings in person I will be in the car where I get ready on the way to save time!
My role as Founder & CEO entails…
TL: As the CEO and founder of Beautifect, I play a pivotal role in shaping our vision and leading our team. My responsibilities span strategic planning, overseeing operations, and managing key functions such as product development, marketing, and sales. Fostering innovation is a priority, and I collaborate closely with our product development team to create cutting-edge beauty products. Brand building and marketing are central to my role, as I actively work to enhance Beautifect’s visibility in the market. Prioritizing customer satisfaction, I gather feedback and make data-driven decisions to improve the overall customer experience.
The biggest hurdle I have experienced in my career…
TL: One unique aspect of our journey is being self-funded, which adds an extra layer of responsibility and autonomy to our decision-making processes. This self-sufficiency allows us to stay true to our vision and values while driving sustainable growth in the competitive beauty industry. However this of course makes everything more challenging at the same time.
The biggest milestone I have achieved is…
TL: One milestone we achieved at Beautifect was winning our very first award, which reflected our dedication to innovation in the beauty industry. This marked a significant step in establishing our brand presence and gaining recognition among consumers who value high-quality beauty products. The positive reception and feedback from customers validated our commitment to creating products that meet their needs, setting the stage for future growth and expansion.

“Whether you think you can or you can’t – you’re right”.
TL: Believing in yourself is truly key. When you believe you can do something, even if it feels impossible at the time, your body, mind and soul will find a way. If you think you can’t, you will simply not be able to find a way.
What I hope for 2024 is…
TL: 2024 will be our biggest, boldest year to date for Beautifect, we will be bringing up to 20 new innovations to our customers, all solution-based, with convenience and luxury at the heart. We will be expanding into new locations which include Australia and Canada. Beautifect has been on an amazing trajectory since launching in 2020, achieving 300%+ growth year on year and we hope to continue and build upon this trend.
