Julio Damante Obituary – CA

JULIO DAMANTE April 18, 1922 – May 25, 2002 Julio Damante passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at Mills Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, California; following several months of declining health. Julio was born in San Francisco, California; to Joseph and Catherine (Picillo) Damante. He graduated from San Francisco’s Balboa High School with the class of 1941 and entered into the Army Air Corps. After WWII, Julio started his own service station, Damante’s Super Service in San Francisco, where he met and married Madalyn McWilliams 56 years ago at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, Julio worked over 35 years as a heating and plumbing contractor as owner of Jade Plumbing in San Bruno, California; and retired from his plumbing business in 1979 to become a Building Inspector for the City of San Mateo and retired in 1984. Julio previously belonged to San Bruno Lyons Club; he was a member of Unity Chapter N0. 305 of Eastern Star, South San Francisco; as a 50-years Mason, he was a present member of Francis Drake Lodge #376 F&AM,South San Francisco and was a Past Master of San Bruno Blue Lakes Lodge N0. 714 F&AM. He was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite of San Francisco and a noble of Shriner’s Islam Temple of San Mateo. Survivors include his wife Madalyn Damante of San Bruno; his two daughters, Ms Janis Damante of Powder Springs.Georgia and Mrs. Joyce Hart and son-in-law Brian Hart of Redwood City; three grandchildren, LCPL Stephen McCarty, USMC; Amber and Whitney Hart, his sisters Florence Banducci of Bakersfield; Dorothy Thurber of Modesto, Josephine Garone of Bakersfield; sister-in-law Marjorie Damante of Menlo Park; 5 nieces, 7 nephews, numerous grand nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent Damante of Menlo Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, the Shiner’s Hospital for Children in Sacramento or the favorite charity of your choice. A Memorial Service followed by cremation will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park (650- 755-1727), 1000 El Camino Real, Colma, on Saturday , June 1, 2002 at 2:00 p.m.
