Forrest Gump rips A’s house owners for shifting group to Las Vegas

Tom Hanks is fed up with A’s possessions. He announced this at a media event where he was asked if he would buy the team to keep in Oakland.

“We lost the Raiders,” Hanks said. “The Warriors have moved to San Francisco and will now bring the A’s out of Oakland. They are all damned.

A Bay Area native, Hanks is known as a die-hard A’s fan. As a young man, he even worked as a clerk at the Oakland Coliseum. In fact, during the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Hanks lent his voice to the Colosseum to enhance the stadium experience on TV.

His familiar voice, selling hot dogs and other stadium merchandise, rang out over the din of the crowd.

On Thursday, Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo approved a bill guaranteeing the A.’s $380 million public funding for a new stadium on the Vegas Strip. This pretty much ensures that the team would leave Oakland.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred spoke out on the matter, saying he “feels sorry for the Oakland fans.” This was quickly refuted by San Francisco Chronicle sports columnist Ann Killion, who, among other things, called Manfred a liar.

In a column published Thursday, she wrote:

The insults and lies against A’s fans and Oakland continued Thursday. This painful humiliation can continue for years because the loudest and longest lies seem to be the ones that stick.

If Tuesday’s “reverse boycott” was, as many believe, the last moment of joy for Oakland Athletics fans, this is the beginning of the sickening aftermath.

A day after the Nevada legislature decided it was a good idea to give a dead billionaire millions of dollars in tax dollars, and hours before the governor signed the standard bill into law, John Fisher’s duplicity partner compounded the abuse and disinformation once.

I have a feeling Hanks and other A’s fans would react to that.
