Harold Thomas Gow passed away peacefully in his home on Friday February 12th at the age of 91.
A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 69 years, Shirl, three children, Gayle, Cameron and Jeanette Meloy, and two grandchildren, Joshua and Cody Meloy. He was pre-deceased by his brother Morris and daughter Peggy.
Born in Paris, Ontario, Canada he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, and served in the Pacific Theater.
He became an American citizen and emigrated to the US when he was honorably discharged from the USMC.
In 1963 Harold opened Gow Supply Company, a wholesale HVAC supply company located in San Francisco. He remained at the helm until his 89th birthday, at which time he fully retired. Happily, the company has enjoyed continued success under the leadership of Harold’s son Cameron and his son-in-law Thomas Meloy.
Harold was laid to rest, with military honors, in a private ceremony at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland on Feb. 17th, Deacon David Young, from The Cathedral of Christ the Light, officiated.
A joyful memorial is planned for early April. Detail will be made public at a later date.
