Rebecca Horne
October 5, 1940 – October 18, 2023
Rebecca (Becky) was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Col. & Mrs. Curtis Pullig (USAF). Her family was military and she moved often growing up, thus her nuclear family meant stability. Moving often led her to be somewhat reserved until she got to know people. She met her husband, William T. Horne, M.D. At Baylor University. She graduated summa cum laude in mathematics, and they were married in Stamps, Arkansas, on September 5, 1964. (All their parents actually knew each other in the 1920s in college in Arkansas!)
She began working for IBM in the dawn of computers, while Bill finished medical school. During Vietnam, Bill was stationed at Ramstein AFB, Germany, where in 1970, their first son, Devin, was born. In 1972 they moved to Mill Valley and in 1973, their second son, Bryan, was born. Bill and Becky have lived in the same house since. Becky attended every swim meet, baseball, soccer, and basketball game and bake sale her children had growing up, usually with sweets in hand. After taking a break from work while raising children, Becky resumed teaching computer classes and also managed computers in a busy medical practice, until retirement. Becky was always there for her children and for her husband’s every piano performance. She gave so much of herself. She loved quietly and with her whole heart. She will be missed and loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; her two sons, Devin (and his wife, Barbi Loy) and Bryan; two grandchildren, Cody and Madelyn; her sister, Pat Crumley and her husband, Sherwin of Colorado Springs, and many nieces and nephews.
Becky was gentle, gracious and generous, always loyal to family, friends, and work.
She succumbed to complications of Alzheimer’s, after a 7 to 8 year struggle. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to: https://act.alz.org/donate.
