Michael Sordelli
January 3, 1945 – May 2, 2023
Michael R. Sordelli: Affectionately known as Mike, Dad, Nonno, Sordelli, Sords, Deli, Daddy-Sords and SC. Mike was born on January 3, 1945 and died on May 2, 2023 in SF surrounded by his loved ones. The loss of Mike is a great loss to his family, friends and everyone who knew him. Mike was a true SF American, proud of his Italian roots and raised in San Francisco’s Sunset area. Mike attended St. Cecilia’s and Sacred Heart HS in 1963. He earned his BA from Golden Gate University and served in the Army Reserve. Mike’s career path took him into accounting for 27 years as CEO of SFCPU. Mike became a member of the Olympic Club in 1965 and excelled at both handball and golf. His passion for golf continued throughout his retirement; He played with his golf buddies most Fridays and Saturdays. His golf adventures have taken him to many states, Scotland (played St Andrews) and Ireland. Mike has always loved a tournament. His last win was the Super Senior Tournament at the Olympic Club in September 2022; best golfer over 70! Family was important to Mike. In 1974 Mike married Wendy Wood; together they had two children, daughter Heidi Sordelli (Crowell) and son Michael R. Sordelli. In 2002, Mike met Marilyn Schaumburg, his longtime love and partner of 21 years. They formed blended families and over the years saw all five children marry and twelve grandchildren born. Mike was a member of the Native Sons of the Golden West and the Godfathers. Mike was a man of many talents: a great cook, handyman, music lover (knew every song) and a wonderful dancer. Mike was a role model and father figure to many; He was a loving and devoted father and Nonno. Before Mike, his parents Hilda and Henry Sordelli and his brother Steven Sordelli died. He is survived by sister Carol (Eddie Coste), daughter Heidi (Chad Crowell), son Mike (Lisa), and grandsons Charlie and Kendall. Mike will always be loved by his partner Marilyn; their children Megan (Dylan David), John (Mandi) and Joe (Ashley) and all grandchildren: Delaney, Marlowe, Brixton, Jaden, Talon, Camden, Kaily, Anieta, June and Anna Marie. A private party will be held in Mike’s honor. Donations can be sent to the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society of SF, the Cleft Palate Fund, the main charity of the Native Sons of the Golden West.
