We are recruiting and filling the position of Lead Interior Designer at AB|DS.
A candidate for this position must have excellent CAD skills (Rhino & Sketchup are a big plus, Autocad is a must), an impeccable sense of color, experience with client presentations, and be confident and persuasive in both the meeting itself and the presentation materials. It requires one to be versatile in a variety of styles and sensibilities, and to be able to draw on both historical and contemporary precedents with ease. Organisation, speed and the ability to manage your time and communicate effectively – especially on days when you are working remotely – are absolutely crucial.
The main tasks include all kinds of interior design tasks, including furniture layouts; Sourcing and presentation of material and design options in-house and subsequently for clients; Creation and documentation of offers / lead times; set up and format budgets; ordering and tracking material progress; and follow-up & receipt of the articles personally on site. Styling skills for photo shoots and a fluency in the technical aspects of social media are a bonus.
• Leading the interior design aspects of the company in general and the FF&E scope of each project in particular. The tasks include:
o Customer communication, customer meetings and customer presentations
o Sourcing, selection and presentation of tiles, stone, wood flooring, paint, wallpaper, furniture, hardware, curtains/shades, lighting, plumbing, appliances, etc. Compiling data into internal software
o Correspondence with vendors to collect pricing and stock information, order samples or items yourself and track progress throughout the process
o Prepare, present and update project budgets for customer accounting and company databases
o Coordination of deliveries and supervision of installations on site
• Assistance with all services as required, with any type of document, presentation or other (AutoCAD drawings, 3D modeling, InDesign Precedent Study, graphic specifications, freehand sketches, etc.).
o Measure construction sites & document existing conditions on site on paper and then in AutoCAD
o Concept design and views options
o Development of 3D models and renderings for internal design, customer-supplied or other purposes and/or redline and correspondence with third-party rendering companies
o Schematic design / design development presentation drawings
o Submission sets for building inspection and then DOB submissions
o Construction documents & detailed drawings
o Construction management sketches as required
• Participate in weekly site visits with GC and subcontractors as needed
• Review and approve contractor submissions and factory drawings and samples from factory workers
• Assist in general business development and marketing attempts which will include company website, renderings, photo shoots and social media as required
